Abstract

Procédé de mesure de l'épaisseur d'un composant de freinage dans un ensemble frein de véhicule lourd du type comprenant un élément de freinage comportant un matériau de friction présentant une face de mise en prise, l'élément de freinage étant conçu pour être actionné dans une opération de freinage de telle sorte que la face de mise en prise du matériau de friction vient en prise avec une surface de freinage du composant de freinage pour ralentir un véhicule lourd. Le procédé consiste : à déterminer lorsqu'un dispositif ultrasonore comprenant un émetteur ultrasonore est dans un état en prise en contact avec la surface de freinage; lorsque le dispositif ultrasonore est dans l'état en prise, à émettre des ondes sonores haute fréquence à travers le composant de freinage avec l'émetteur ultrasonore et à détecter les ondes sonores haute fréquence avec un capteur ultrasonore; et à calculer une épaisseur du composant de freinage sur la base d'un retard temporel entre l'émission et la détection des ondes sonores haute fréquence.
