Definitions
- the present invention relates to cosmetic cleansing preparations containing rhamnoli-pide in combination with dehydroxanthan gum.
- a person's outward appearance can be influenced and enhanced through the use of cosmetic products. Regular use of cleansing and care products ensures that people feel attractive, beautiful, and comfortable in their surroundings, and radiate this outwards.
- the cleansing process serves the purpose of loosening and rinsing away dirt such as sweat residue or accumulated skin cells.
- shower gels and cleansing products typically contain anionic, non-ionic, or amphoteric surfactants. Since, in addition to removing external dirt particles, skin particles can also be removed, this can lead to dry skin or skin irritation. Therefore, it is important that a shower gel also cares for the skin. This can be achieved by using gentle cleansing products.
- Surfactants are substances that enable the dissolution of organic, especially nonpolar, substances in water. Furthermore, surfactant molecules are amphiphilic and composed of a hydrophilic and a lipophilic unit. This allows them to bind to the interface between the aqueous and lipid phases, facilitating the dissolution of dirt and the rinsing away of lipid-containing soils. Surfactants can be described by their HLB value (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance), which represents a measure of the ratio of these two functional groups within the surfactant molecule. Surfactants typically exhibit an HLB value of 13–15.
- Biosurfactants are defined as surfactants that can be derived from renewable resources and are also biodegradable. The manufacturing process can thus be sustainable, for example, through fermentation. Biosurfactants are considered mild surfactants.
- Known biosurfactants include glycolipids, lipopeptides, fatty acids, and phospholipids.
- Rhamnolipids are a class of glycolipids produced by biosynthesis in bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas aeruginosa, among other organisms. They can be purchased, for example, under the trade name Rheance® one from Evonik. Rhamnolipids can be described by the following general structural formula (I):
- R1 and R2 are independently identical or different organic residues with 2 to 30, preferably 5 to 24, carbon atoms, in particular a substituted or unsubstituted, branched or unbranched alkyl residue, which may also be unsaturated, wherein the alkyl residue is preferably a linear saturated alkyl residue with 6 to 20 carbon atoms. Salts of these compounds are also included according to the invention.
- Rhamnolipids are, by definition, not anionic surfactants within the meaning of this invention.
- a cosmetic cleansing product Besides its cleansing effect and skin compatibility, customers have other requirements for a cosmetic cleansing product. For example, it is advantageous if cleansing preparations for use in the shower have a pleasant consistency. It is also desirable for the shower gel to be transparent, as this suggests to the customer, even upon dispensing the product, that it is a cleansing agent. Furthermore, it is possible to... to incorporate effect substances, such as color pigments or peeling particles, into transparent cleansing preparations, thus making the use of a shower gel more pleasant for the consumer.
- the viscosity of the shower gel when dispensing it from the packaging is important, as a pleasant experience is desired.
- the cleansing product should be easy to remove from the packaging with a smooth, even flow and without requiring much effort. It should then spread easily on the skin. Accordingly, the viscosity of the product must be such that it allows for easy and complete dispensing and distribution. Additionally, the viscosity of the cleansing product must meet the requirements of the specific packaging. For packaging with a pump, the viscosity must be at least 1000 mPa s. For packaging with a flip-top cap, the cleansing product should have a viscosity between 1000 and 4000 mPa s, and for tube packaging, the viscosity should be in the range of 2000 to 6000 mPa s.
- DE102018220913 describes the use of rhamnolipids in O/W emulsions.
- WO2013098066 describes the use of rhamnolipids in combination with xanthan gum in a shower gel.
- EP4140472 A1 describes the use of rhamnolipids with at least one other surfactant under the formation of micelles for the removal of make-up.
- EP3775125 describes the use of rhamnolipids with the preservative glydant. Therefore, the object of the present invention was to provide aqueous cosmetic cleansing preparations which have a high viscosity through the use of rhamnolipids.
- Another object of the present invention was to provide cosmetic cleansing preparations which exhibit high transparency through the use of rhamnolipids.
- the present invention relates to an aqueous cosmetic cleansing preparation containing rhamnolipids and dehydroxanthan gum.
- the cleaning preparation according to the invention can be used as a washing gel for face and body.
- any viscosity values given in this disclosure refer to measurements taken at 25°C in a 150 ml wide-mouth bottle (VWR No.: 807-001) using the Rheomat R 123 from proRheo GmbH.
- the Rheomat R 123 is a rotational viscometer, meaning that a measuring element rotates within the substance being measured. The force required to rotate the measuring element within the sample at a predetermined speed is measured. The viscosity is then calculated from this torque, the rotational speed of the measuring element, and the geometric dimensions of the measuring system.
- the measuring element used is No. 1 (article no. 200 0191), suitable for a viscosity range up to 10,000 mPa s and a rotational speed of 62.5 min ⁇ 1 . Unless otherwise specified, the viscosity measurement is always performed 24 hours after preparation of the sample.
- the transparency of a cleaning preparation can be determined by measurements using transmission spectroscopy. Any transmission values given in this disclosure refer to measurements taken with a SPECORD® UV/VIS spectrophotometer from analysek-jena. For these measurements, the transmission of the respective cleaning preparations was measured at wavelengths of 420 nm, 600 nm, 650 nm, 900 nm, and 950 nm in a 10 mm disposable cuvette. A reference was used against Deionized water was measured. The transparency of the cleaning preparations was determined by the transmission value (%T) at 420 nm and 600 nm.
