Abstract
Composiciones y métodos para recubrir o acristalar de manera uniforme croquetas de alimento seco para animales domésticos para mejorar la palatabilidad sin la pérdida de textura crujiente de las croquetas secas durante un período de tiempo prolongado. La composición de recubrimiento comprende agua y por lo menos uno de una goma o un almidón modificado. La composición de recubrimiento puede comprender un ingrediente adicional, tal como uno o más de un sabor, un color, una carne emulsionada o en partículas, una fruta o vegetal emulsionado o en partículas, un antioxidante, una vitamina, un mineral, un microorganismo no replicante, una fibra o un prebiótico. En una forma de realización, la composición de recubrimiento puede incluir dextrosa y/o glicina. Después de mezclar y disolver, la composición de recubrimiento puede ser una pasta viscosa con una viscosidad de 2.500 a 4.000 centipoises, con preferencia de 3.000 a 3.500 centipoises, medida a temperatura ambiente.
