Abstract

Se proveen girasoles, partes de ellos, sus cultivos y semillas que son capaces de producir aceite de girasol con bajo contenido de grasa saturada y, opcionalmente, con un alto contenido de ácido linoleico así como también métodos relacionados. Reivindicación 1: Un aceite de girasol no hidrogenado extraído de semillas de una variedad de girasol de elite estabilizada para tener una composición nutritiva en ácidos grasos de aceite de semilla, dicho aceite de girasol caracterizado porque comprende una cantidad detectable del polinucleótido de SEC ID Nº 18, en donde el nucleótido de la posición 299 del polinucleótido es una adenina (A), el nucleótido de la posición 364 del polinucleótido es una citosina (C), el nucleótido de la posición 439 del polinucleótido es una citosina (C), y el nucleótido de la posición 457 del polinucleótido es una adenina (A).
