 in Luft.

    Multipole oil switch.

In the case of multi-pole (e.g. three-pole) oil switches, it is usual to arrange the bushings for the incoming lines in one plane and the bushings for the outgoing lines in a second plane parallel to this plane (Fig. 1 a and b). The six bushings, which form a rectangle in this way, are enclosed by an oil tank, for which the closest cross-sectional shape is again a rectangle (e). If large powers are to be switched off with the oil switch, the rectangular box requires stiffeners because it cannot cope with the overpressure that occurs.

If you want to save the expenses for these stiffeners and for this reason you choose the more favorable circular cross-section for the boiler because of the strength, you have to accept the disadvantage of the greater weight and a larger amount of oil, because the circle of the rectangular shape of the bushings is of course not hugs as organically as a rectangle. These disadvantages can be remedied according to the invention in that only the narrow sides of the box are bulged; while the broad sides remain level or only have a slight rounding. In this way, an oval-shaped kettle is obtained, which meets high demands in terms of strength and also does not have a larger capacity than the rectangular box. The bulges on the narrow sides can also be very

 in air.

Since the bushings are usually arranged with parallel axes, there are clearances in oil, as the insulating medium with much higher dielectric strength, which far exceed the required minimum value. 1 and 2 show an embodiment with parallel bushings, and FIGS. 3 and 4 show an embodiment with inclined bushings known per se.

In the case of the latter, the external bushings of the incoming lines and those of the outgoing lines are inclined in the planes perpendicular to the direction of the switch blade towards the central bushing in such a way that the distances between the bare parts remain the same in air but closer to each other in oil move. From this it is easy to see to what extent the box can be made smaller
 EMI1.2
would become smaller as a result.
