Dampfschneepflng.

Steam snow plow.
The invention relates to a steam snow plow attached to a freight locomotive, which is used for clearing snow on the route and in stations. Particular attention was paid to utilizing the already existing snow removal facilities of the Austrian Federal Railways such as: fixed snow plow, Marin'scher snow plow and to improve them by using the steam drive.
The steam snow plow is the fastest to the respective track profile, i. H. Adaptable in fractions of a second and clears the same width as the Marin snow plow, i.e. H. l'l m from the rail
EMI1.1
The drawing illustrates the subject matter of the invention. Fig. 1 shows the vertical longitudinal section along the line AB of Fig. 2 or 3, Fig. 2 shows the horizontal cross section along the line CD of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is the top view of the right full plow side of the front platform of the locomotive 4 shows the rear view of the left wing side, FIG. 5 shows the section through a steam control switch and FIGS. 6 and 7 show the overall arrangement with the raised and lowered position in a schematic representation and on a smaller scale than the other figures.
On the fixed snow plow 1 attached to the locomotive, the blades 3, each movable at two strong joints 2, are rotatably attached. They are made of 10 mm thick mild steel sheet, bent in the largest resistance profile, can be opened and closed and their cutting edge extends 4 to 2-3 cm above the rail height. In order to protect the shovels when they hit the rails and against unforeseen obstacles (wheel guides that are too high, derailment rails and so on), they are provided with sled runners 5 made of the best spring steel so that they can climb up. The blades are positioned by means of two wedge-shaped
EMI1.2
This is in turn reinforced by means of a strong angle iron cross 7 (Fig. 1 and 2) and stiffened against the front cross frame of the locomotive. The blades are steam powered.
The steam

Steam locomotives in use old cylinders redesigned accordingly to two-chamber systems. Two cylinders each work with a common hanging iron 10 and a push arm 11 (Fig. 1) on each a shovel 3. The shovels rise above the lower fixed snow plow profile so that you can drive anywhere with the shovels lifted.
The continuation of the blade part to the outside is formed by the right and left wings 12, 13 (FIGS. 2 and 3). The two wings are made of strong sheet iron and reinforced with strong transverse strips. The wing can be rotated about three strong joints 14 and is also supported on two ball bearings M. The two

surface up or down.
The round arches form the effective stiffeners of the wing. They are provided with recesses 18 in which strong locking pins 19 (FIGS. 3 and 2) are placed and in the respective working position

Joint straps 22 (FIG. 4) are screwed on the inside of the front chest bracket or on the fixed snow plow blade 23. All three hinges share a strong steel shaft 24.
The wing is powered by steam. The steam cylinder 25 (FIGS. 2 and 4) is located in the front chest section 26 of the locomotive and drives the wing with its forked piston rod 27 and the double joint 28 and roller joint 29. The wing will move in or out

position it can be brought into any desired position.
The vane and wing cylinders are each provided with two steam lines 32 which drive the piston back and forth. This is done by means of the tax exchange (Fig. 5). The vertebra 33 has a right-angled 34 and an oblique bore 35. The oblique bore leads the right-angled bore, i. 11. It opens earlier when the tap is moved and gives 36 advance flow. This is 4 SIS. The passive side of the piston is therefore emptied earlier, i.e. H. before steam flows into the active. For example, if steam flows at the mouth 37 onto the cover side 38 of a cylinder, the bore on the stuffing box side 39 was connected to the air bore 4C earlier. When changing the tap it is the other way round.
6 and 7 illustrate the full rest and working position of the snow plow or the

was stiffened with angle iron struts against the chest and smoke chamber of the locomotive. The fixed snow plow 1 is normally attached to the locomotive's snow plow bracket.
The mode of operation of the snow plow is already evident from the illustration. The wings and shovels are driven by steam, the steam control mechanisms (Fig. 5) are located on the driver's stand or the driver's stand of the locomotive and are operated from there. In order to preserve the independence of the wings, a separate tax change is provided for each. The blades have a common change
EMI2.4
on the arches 16 of the wings, these can also be set in two positions. In order to operate the three control changes, two organs with knowledge of the route are necessary, which, thanks to the favorable operator position, can control the snow plow easily, safely and quickly;
