EMI1.1

EMI1.1
It is known that aluminum and aluminum alloys can be covered with a dense protective coating by treatment with an alkaline chromium salt solution. However, the previous method of execution requires a lot of time and, since the treatment also has to take place in the tub, not inconsiderable heating costs, especially when exercising on a large scale. It has now been shown that the coating can be produced in the same quality but much easier and faster if you

nium compounds, especially alum u. Like., into consideration. Modified in this way, the procedure is carried out in the following way.

or contains 1% soda. Other alkaline compounds can also be used.
Alum or another aluminum compound is added to this solution or it is ensured that an aluminum compound is formed by partial dissolution during the treatment of the aluminum objects. During the treatment, the solution is heated to 90-950. Depending on the duration of the heating, the thickness of the coating can be made as desired.
EMI1.4
EMI1.5
To prepare the bath, a piece of aluminum has already been placed in it.
In order to achieve even coverage, it is advisable to move the object in the bath.
The temperature is kept at about 80-90'C. The bath can be used as long as it still shows a clear yellow color. If it becomes too weak, it can be regenerated by adding potassium dichromate. The duration of the treatment is on average 30 minutes to one hour; with a very active bathing, possibly less. After taking them out of the bath, the items are rinsed well in tap water and then dried well. Drying in a drying cabinet can be very detrimental.
The coating obtained after the application has a considerably greater resistance to saline solution (sea water) and in particular to oxidizing saline solution than that obtained by the known method without a catalyst.
