   Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT ? 11357.

    GEORG GRAF HOYOS iN FIUMK.

Guide plate for underwater broadside torpedo launchers.

The guide shield constructed according to the present invention differs from previously known in that the upper cover is omitted, which offers the advantage of being able to introduce the torpedo from above and to be able to support the propulsion tube housing laterally.

In the drawing, FIG. 1 shows a plan view, FIG. 2 shows a section and FIG. 3 shows a fine perspective view of the apparatus according to the present invention. The same consists of a) fixed, long box a built into the hold and a shield b located therein. which can be pushed in and out by means of air pressure or otherwise.

The box and the rear part of the shield can be either prismatic or cylindrical in shape. The box a is provided with a door o the same length as the torpedo, which enables the torpedo to be introduced from above.

The shield b, which is open at the top and aft of the ship, consists essentially of a horizontal main plate d on which a sloping backward sloping one

 EMI1.2
Angle plate / prevents premature lifting of the torpedo star rim; the same is set up for weight loss. The purpose of the angle piece p is to divert the water coming from the front further upwards.

After the shield has been completely pushed out of the ship, the torpedo is released by moving the shaft'M which carries the hooks n and the lever o. This movement, which can take place automatically, frees the torpedo on the one hand by releasing the lock i, and on the other hand the flaps h, so that the water pressure opens and acts on the torpedo, detaching it from the shield, whereupon it is released by its own started simultaneously

so that the water flowing in with the same force hits the torpedo with the same force behind and in front of its center of gravity.
