Man erhält

Process for the simultaneous production of phosphorus or phosphoric acid and latent hydraulic binders.
It has repeatedly been proposed to replace the previous addition of silica with alumina-containing substances in the thermal recovery of phosphorus or phosphoric acid in order to obtain slag which has hydraulic properties such that it can be used directly as cement. However, when a slag with a similar composition to Portland cement clinker is melted, the required high lime content (ss2-û5%) proves to be disruptive because it gives rise to carbide formation.
It has now been found that this difficulty does not arise if the charging of the furnace is so composed that when processing phosphates in which the phosphoric acid is bound to lime or alumina or both, and the given aggregates, a slag of about 12 -35% Al2O3, 18 # 38% SiO2 and 40-55% CaO arise. With this composition of the mixture, the phosphorus expulsion is complete and a slag is obtained which, after granulation, represents a latent hydraulic binder and is suitable for the production of blast furnace cements.
It has been recognized as an advantage of this process over the production of slag that can be used directly as Portland cement that it is not necessary to work towards a completely uniform composition of the slag, so that any irregularities in the charging are not disadvantageous. The ratio of silica to alumina can be changed within wider limits than would be permitted in the direct production of Portland cement. The process can be carried out in both an electric furnace and a shaft furnace, with the carbon serving as both a reducing agent and a heat source. In the latter case, in addition to phosphorus, the exhaust gases also contain phosphoric acid.
The slag obtained in this process is ground in a known manner with Portland cement clinker on blast furnace cement, whereby the Portland cement dinker can be produced either from the usual raw materials or from a part of the slag obtained and corresponding calcareous aggregates.
In this way, it is also possible to produce a slag which is best suited as an admixture material for a cement clinker of a given composition. Furthermore, by choosing the clay used, it is also possible to use cheap, high-silica rock phosphate, regardless of the quality of the slag. The great economic and technical advantage of this type of slag production can also be seen in a comparison with the blast furnace process, in which the composition of the lacquer is determined by the quality of the ores and the quality of the iron melted in the blast furnace.
Example 1: 100 parts of rock phosphate with 50% CaO, 2% Al203, 4% Si02 and 35% P205 are mixed with 50 parts of clay with 56% Si02 and 32% Al2Og and with 24 parts of dry coke in an electric furnace or in a shaft furnace for phosphorus, respectively phosphorus and phosphoric acid processed. You get
