Hydraulic braking device with self-inflating master cylinder for motor vehicles.
A known hydraulic braking device for motor vehicles consists of a self-filling master cylinder with pressure lines extending therefrom and leading to the cylinders of the wheel brakes. However, this arrangement has the major disadvantage that in the event of a leak or breakage at any point, the entire braking system becomes ineffective.
This disadvantage is eliminated by a likewise known arrangement in which such a self-filling master cylinder is provided both for the brake group of the front wheels and for the brake group of the rear wheels or some other combination. The pistons of the two main cylinders are driven simultaneously by a control shaft by means of a gear mechanism which allows the brakes of the two systems to be acted in exactly the same way.
The direct assembly of this compensating device with the pressure cylinders is important for reasons of space saving. According to the design forming the subject of the invention, the pressure cylinder and compensating device are arranged in a common housing, into which the brake shaft enters on the one hand and from which the pressure tubes emanate on the other. Guide rear wheels.
This type of construction, in which the compensating element is located directly in front of the plunger, has the advantage that there is no need for any transmission linkage and that it is only connected to the piston by means of short, completely rigid levers, which results in irregularities due to various expansion or bending of the connecting elements between compensation device and piston is completely excluded. This is an advantage since, during normal operation, the compensating device does not want to take effect as a result of the inevitable delay in the occurrence of the braking process. In the case of a major defect, e.g. B. Leakage of the pipeline, it is of course necessary for the compensating device to become effective and in such a case the associated delay is meaningless.
In the drawing, an Ausführungshebeispiel the invention is shown, u. Between FIGS. 1 and 2 show the device in the longitudinal or Cross-section.
The two Hanptylinders 1 and 2 with their pistons 3 and 4 are housed in a housing 5, the lower part of which is divided for this purpose by a wall 6 into two chambers 7 and 8, of which the chamber 7, the master cylinder 1 and the chamber 8 the master cylinder 2 receives. The main cylinders are formed by inserts in the housing wall, which facilitates the compact assembly.
Each of the two main cylinders has a longitudinal slot 9 and a radial bore 1 (), which is provided in the cylinder wall at such a point that it is exposed in the outer end position of the piston shown in FIG. 2 and connects the working space of the cylinder with the chamber in which the cylinder is arranged. line with the wheel cylinders of another brake group, z. B. the rear wheelbrell1se1J. connected.
The pistons of the main cylinders are driven by a control shaft 11 which is mounted in the bearings 12 and 13 of the housing. The control shaft 11 carries a bevel gear differential which consists of the differential bevel gear 14 and the bevel gears 15 and 16 loosely seated on the control shaft 11. Each of the bevel gears 15 and 16 has a lever 17 or 18 wedged on its sleeve-shaped hub, of which the lever 17 engages the piston 3 of the master cylinder 1 and the lever 18 engages the piston 4 of the master cylinder 2. Due to the differential gear, a completely equal braking effect on all brakes of both systems is achieved at all times.
The differential gear can also be replaced by a hoist. in which instead of the differential bevel gear a two-armed lever, instead of the bevel gears driven by the differential bevel gear on the axis of the drive lever, a one-armed lever is provided, each of which engages one arm of the two-armed lever. This completely equivalent arrangement does not change anything in the essence of the invention.
In the event of a leak or break in the pressure line of a brake system, when the control shaft 11 is actuated, the lever belonging to the leaky or broken system is first rotated, which thereby comes into contact with a stop (19 or 20) at the end of the slot in the master cylinder. Now the action of the differential gear only actuates the other lever and through this the intact brake system is actuated in the normal way.
The drive of the pistons of the master cylinders can also be achieved by means of other mechanisms, e.g. B. levers, wire ropes and. Like., which also allow a completely equal braking effect to be achieved on all brakes.
