  Pflanzenschutzmittel.

  Pesticides.

The insecticidal and fungicidal effect of sulfur and its use as a pesticide in accordance with this effect has been generally known for a long time. In particular, the sulfur was used for this purpose in the form of a specially prepared lime-sulfur broth or artificially produced mixtures of sulphides of alkalis and alkaline earths
 EMI1.1

It has now been found that the sulfur-containing waste water from the manufacture of artificial structures such as fibers, ribbons, skins, films, etc. made of viscose can be used for the stated purpose. so in particular the sulfur-containing wastewater from the viscose rayon industry and the production of viscose film are suitable.

During the desulfurization of viscose silk and viscose film, the excess elemental sulfur is removed by baths containing sodium sulfide and is then found in the wastewater as polysulfide and finely divided sulfur. So far, this wastewater has mostly been allowed to run off unused. The advantage of using this waste water as a pesticide is obvious. It will

Fish farming also suffers, is avoided and a previously unusable waste is put to practical use.

The wastewater can be used directly or, if appropriate, after prior thickening or drying to form a solid product. The wastewater can also be subjected to all those other measures that were previously common in the production of such sulfur-containing pesticides. These can be mixed with other pesticides of an organic or inorganic nature such as tahak extract, copper salts, zinc salts, etc. The same can also be used with stabilizers for the polysulfides, such as. B.

Types of sugar, then also with agents such as soap, glue, etc. Likewise, the wastewater can be treated with alkaline earths and their compounds.
