Description

    Food for electrical cables.

The impregnating agents for the insulating layer of electrical voltage cables usually consist of refined mineral oils to which rosin is added to increase the viscosity.

As a component of the cable soaking compound, colophony has the following disadvantages: it is acidic, easily saponifiable, easily oxidized (non-aging).

According to the invention, all or part of the rosin is replaced by (neutral) wool fat. Due to its waxy character, wool fat cannot be saponified under normal conditions and, in particular, neutral wool fat is almost insensitive to light, heat, water and oxygen.

The wool fat is advantageously mixed into mineral oil of the naphthenic type or into mineral oil, the consistency of which is increased in a suitable manner by silent electrical discharges.
