Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Device for reproducing phonograms in reflected light.

   When playing back sound recordings from opaque phonogram carriers, for example made of paper, it is necessary to achieve the greatest possible efficiency in the use of the light rays reflected by the sound strip. For this purpose, in the subject matter of the invention, the light-sensitive organs used to collect the light impressions are arranged in such a way that a
Most of the reflected amount of light is used. You have to distinguish exactly between two types of scanning. On the one hand, the area to be scanned can be illuminated with the most intense light possible. B. an image is designed by optics, from which you then the desired, for sound recordings z.

   B. fades out a line-shaped part, or you can cast a corresponding line-shaped light beam on the phonogram, the reflection of which must be recorded as completely as possible.

   The reflection itself can be exploited according to two points of view. It is well known that in addition to the pure, direct reflection on reflective surfaces, there is also diffuse reflection on matt surfaces. A sharp distinction between these two types is difficult; every non-reflective surface shows not only the separation of light but also another, e.g. B. depending on the material changing proportion of direct reflection, which is mostly'not recorded in the previously known types of scanning. Is known z.

   B. the use of photocells with a central opening through which a light beam falls perpendicularly onto the surface to be scanned; Such cells, mainly used for video telegraphy, do not use the directly reflected portion of the back radiation.

   In the subject matter of the invention, the part of the light radiation lying in the direction of the angle of reflection is also used by arranging the light-sensitive organs used for scanning in such a way that a direction of the incident beam that is not perpendicular to the scanning surface achieves a main reflection direction that is fully captured by the photoelectric organ can.

  With this type of construction of the photoelectric organs, they can themselves be used to form a slit-shaped aperture for the incident bundle of light, especially when using the type of scanning described earlier through a line of light imaged directly on the phonogram carrier.

   The devices that are used to reproduce the phonogram in the reflected light in conjunction with the described shapes of the photoelectric scanning elements for the best possible use of the light energy, as cheap, z. B. band-shaped phonogram carriers made of paper are used, also be as simple and cheap as possible in their construction.

   An embodiment according to the invention of the light-sensitive organs for the best possible utilization of the light reflected by the phonogram carrier is shown, for example, in FIG. 1 for a photocell and FIG. 2 for a selenium cell. The photocell should, for example, be suitable for scanning that uses a wedge-shaped light bundle designed for the sound recording to reproduce the sound strips, whereby by symmetrical design it can easily be achieved to use two or more light sources for illumination in order to achieve the inventive effect. On a glass body G, the phonogram carrier F ', z. B. a paper tape, passed by with the sound recording.

   At point P, the sound recording is illuminated by a light beam incident in direction e, or a light line is imaged in P by a light bundle which penetrates through window 11. The glass body G carries in its interior the photosensitive layer 7v, z. B.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 a potassium coating, and only an opening A1 for the entry of the light rays is left free, furthermore the indented part K of the glass body, which has the purpose of allowing the light rays reflected from P to all sides to enter the cavity of the glass body as unhindered as possible The purpose of the linear scanning light beam is to form a half-cylinder that is coaxial with a straight line in P perpendicular to the plane of the paper (a hemisphere for point-like scanning) so that the reflected light beams pass through perpendicular to the glass surface. In a similar way, the point A1 is flattened so that the incident light beam perpendicularly penetrates the glass wall.

   The majority of the light rays e incident at the angle K are grouped after the reflection around the at the angle a. reflected central ray 1 ", which hits a point of the glass wall that is fully covered with a light-sensitive layer. The other reflected rays also all hit the covering L, so that almost the entire solid angle of 180 that is available is used.

  The second electrode of the photocell can e.g. B. as a ring E, which is shown in Fig. 1 as well as the glass body in section, are formed.

   If a selenium cell is to be used in the same way, it can be implemented according to the invention * concept according to the schematic FIG. The phonogram carrier F 'is at a distance d from the selenium cell, which z. B. is designed according to the capacitor type, moved past.

  The incident light beam c reaches the tape F 'at point P through an opening A2, which is advantageously in the form of a gap when playing back sound recordings. As in the case of the photocell, the majority of the reflected light in the selenium cell is in the direction -) 'hit the light-sensitive coating L, while the remaining part hits the selenium coating with low intensity. The luminous flux reflected from point P is recorded all the more completely, the smaller the distance d. Because this distance is made as small as possible, the opening A2 in the body of the cell can advantageously be designed as a slit diaphragm at the same time by ensuring that the edges are delimited, sharpened, etc. accordingly.
