Description

Viele Metallteilchen, insbesondere zerkleinerte Aluminiumfolienabfälle, zeigen in unausgeplättetem Zustande sehr hohes Schüttvolumen.

Process for the production of bronze powder in a drum.

The invention relates to a method for producing bronze leaves, so-called bronze colors, by means of falling steel balls which are in a non) running drum with the metal particles to be stretched and which are lifted by the drum as it rotates and then dropped.

The invention makes it possible to give this method a particularly good degree of efficiency by adjusting the amount of steel balls used within specific limits. In general, in such processes or machines, changing the filling determines the most favorable efficiency. If this rule is applied to the present case, the first result is that an increase in the number of steel balls with a corresponding loading of the metal particles to be processed leads to an increase in the yield of finished particles. The yield increases significantly up to a maximum value and then drops to a considerably reduced value with further increase in the number of steel balls. It was to be expected that an even further increase in the number of steel balls would not result in any improvement in the specific yield.

Surprisingly, however, when the series of experiments is carried out further, despite the apparently hopelessness, it is possible to increase the specific yield not only to the level of the first maximum value by again increasing the number of balls, but also to achieve a considerable increase. A second maximum is obtained, which is considerably higher than the first, i.e. not only an increase in the yield in relation to the increase in the number of balls, but also, in absolute terms, a higher weight of bronze per kilogram of steel balls used. The invention is based on the exploitation of this phenomenon.

The drawing illustrates in a diagram the course of the yield on a drum with an internal diameter of 600 mm. The ordinates of the diagram show the yield when stretching aluminum parts in kilograms, the abscissas the weight of the steel balls used in kilograms for a 1 m drum length. One can clearly see the increase in the yield up to the increase in the number of steel balls to 102 kg. Then the yield drops rapidly up to a ball weight of 150 kg, then further slowly to a ball weight of 198 kg. The curve now rises rapidly. The first maximum value is reached again at around 235 kg ball weight.

A further increase in the number of steel balls results in a steadily increasing increase in the yield until it has the second maximum value at 290 kg, and then drops again when the number of steel balls increases again.

This peculiar phenomenon can be explained by the fact that the missing balls have to do a strange job, namely the stretching of small metal particles into bronze leaves, which results in a special coordination of the ball fall, the size of the balls and the proportion between the balls and the metal parts to be processed Has basis.

According to the invention, such a quantity of steel balls is used in the drum for the flattening process that the second slope of the curve for the specific yield, which follows the minimum value lying behind the first maximum value, is used. Depending on the dimensions of the drum used, the size of the steel balls and the type and nature of the metal particles to be stretched, the individual curves will change somewhat.

The diagram also shows that the second maximum value of the curve drops quickly as the number of steel balls increases. Therefore, out of caution, the dimensioning of the steel ball

Inaccuracies that are unavoidable in practical operation do not suddenly appear on the steeply sloping part of the curve. Since it is known that there is a second maximum value, the graph can be determined on the basis of experiments.

In general, one can set up the principle that the number of steel balls, when the drum is at rest, should fill a segment of its circular cross-section, the height of which is more than two fifths of the diameter of the circle, while the upper limit that can be given to the height of the circular segment is around five sixths of the circular radius. The high degree of filling of the drum with steel balls results in the advantageous appearance that the center of gravity of the entire system moves relatively close to the axis of rotation and that therefore the energy required for the turning work is small.

Many metal particles, in particular crushed aluminum foil waste, show a very high bulk volume in the unflattened state. With the specified quantities of balls, it happens that the balls, together with the metal parts to be processed, fill the entire contents of the drum.

A proper ball fall is then severely hindered and a considerable amount of time passes before the balls have stretched the metal particles so far that they only occupy a volume corresponding to the intended ball fall. In the present case, it is therefore of particular advantage to fill and empty the plating drum as gradually and uninterruptedly as possible, since the newly fed, not yet stretched metal particles then make up only a small percentage of the pre-processed metal particles and do not cause any problems. The supply of the metal particles is therefore expediently carried out by a known charging device, e.g. B. od a screw conveyor, a rotary lock. The like. While a blower is used for discharge.
