Process for the preparation of iron raw materials for the application of a basic glass number or a one-off glaze.

In order to produce well-adhering base glazes, small amounts of cobalt, nickel, copper, manganese oxide or the like have been added to them, without the actual effect of these oxides being completely clear. It has also been suggested that on the iron to be enamelled

and to apply the enamelling to these metal coatings, whereby the adhesion of the enamel is to be achieved through the metal layer. However, such low metal deposits cannot produce adhesive force (see Enamelware Industry No. 28, 1925, the article .. The behavior of metal oxides in base enamels on sheet metal "by L. Vielhaber).

According to the invention, this now causes the formation of an effective adhesive layer. that the raw utensils or the objects to be enamelled, before the enamel is applied, with a relatively concentrated phosphoric acid solution of the salts of the elements mentioned, cobalt.

Nickel, manganese, copper, and then dried at elevated temperature.

The process is carried out in such a way that the objects to be enamelled are first treated with a phosphoric acid solution of a salt of the metals mentioned, e.g. B. a sulfate, treated and, after drying, enamelled in the usual manner, enamels being used for enamelling. which are free of cobalt, nickel and the like like. are.

If an approximately 10% phosphoric acid solution is used for this purpose, in which salts of the previously mentioned metals are dissolved and the raw material is dried at around 2250 C, a mechanically non-removable layer of insoluble phosphates is formed, which acts as an adhesive for a glaze or Can serve as a single glaze.
