Zur Steuerung eines digitalen Teilnehmerleitungs-Modempaars werden Betriebsdaten (710) von dem DSL-Modempaar gesammelt, wobei die Betriebsdaten aktuelle Betriebsdaten und historische Betriebsdaten umfassen zumindest ein Teil der gesammelten Betriebsdaten wird analysiert (730), und es wird eine empfangsspielraumbezogener Parametersatz auf der Grundlage der analysierten Betriebsdaten erzeugt (740), wonach das DSL-Modempaar angewiesen wird (750), gemäß dem erzeugten empfangsspielraumbezogenen Parametersatz zu arbeiten.
