EMI1.1

EMI1.1
The subject of the invention is an improved protective cover for lent and air sensitive goods of all kinds, in particular food, books, textile goods and the like. like
It is known to soak such envelopes, which are made of sheets of paper, regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate or the like, saponified on the surface, with a solution of esculin or quinine sulfate in order to make them impermeable to ultraviolet rays. The protective covers produced in this way, however, have the disadvantage that they release the additives incorporated into them under the action of moisture. So z. B. due to the moisture of food packed in such casings, some of the additives mentioned are transferred to the food.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is avoided by using bodies for absorbing the ultraviolet rays which not only have the required optical properties. but also have substantive character in the sense of the so-called substantive dyes to the fiber and therefore attach firmly to the film material used to manufacture the protective cover and can no longer be removed by moisture.
With the exception of the protective cover intended for the packaging of foodstuffs, a body can optionally also be added to the films which have been colored or colorless bodies which absorb the ultraviolet rays in this way B. hydroquinone, prevents oxidation of the first-mentioned bodies.
Example 1: A gelatine film is soaked in a 2% solution of primulin at normal temperature. The film can be soaked in water without damage. To produce the necessary suppleness, a treatment with glycerine can be carried out in a manner known per se after soaking.
Example 2: A film made of regenerated cellulose is soaked at 50 ° C. in a 2-5% strength aqueous solution of urea made from p-amino-benzoyl-p-phenylenediaminesulfonic acid sodium. If necessary, 1-511,) hydroquinone can also be added to the solution. A follow-up treatment with glycerine to increase the suppleness can take place.
Example 3: A film made from regenerated cellulose is soaked in an aqueous solution of di-maminobenzoyl-diaminostilbene-disulfo-acidic sodium, rinsed and then treated with a glycerine bath.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Protective cover for light or. air-sensitive goods of all kinds, consisting of a film of paper, regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate saponified on the surface. Gelatin or the like incorporated into an ultraviolet ray absorbing body having substantive properties.
