Process for the production of bendable tabs on sheet metal objects.
In the manufacture of objects made of sheet metal which have sealing flaps that can be bent at the edge, such as. B. housing or housing cover, these items are usually from the

Material parts remain. On the one hand, this production method causes considerable waste, since the piece to be punched has to be made wider by the length of the tabs and, on the other hand, bending over the tabs produced in this way makes difficulties. if the sheet metal used is somewhat thicker.
According to the invention, the tabs are not obtained by a punching process, but rather a bleed piece with a smooth edge is assumed and at those points of this edge where the tabs are to be present, a pressure or pressing process causes material to protrude over the mentioned edge causing cross-sectional weakening brought about.
In this way you not only save any special expenditure on material for the tabs or the waste that occurs during the mentioned punching process, but you also have the advantage that the tabs have a weaker cross-section than the rest of the sheet metal piece, so that these tabs are also slightly bent can be if the piece of sheet metal itself has relatively considerable strength, such as, for example, for the manufacture of housings and housing covers for electrical regulating resistors and.
