Fig". 3 zeigt einen Schnitt nach Linie A-B der Fig. 1.

Electric soldering iron with resistance heating and built-in thermostats.

The invention relates to an electric soldering iron with resistance heating. The known versions of such soldering irons have the disadvantage that with longer working time or, more generally, with longer heating by the electric current, the soldering iron is heated in an undesirable manner and takes on temperatures that are significantly above the temperature limit required for the work. This has the consequence that the copper piece of the heated piston is oxidized to a greater extent, i.e. H. increased scale formation occurs. If the work with the soldering iron has stopped temporarily without switching off the power, this scale must be removed when the soldering work is resumed. In addition, the increased scale formation also contributes to shortening the service life of the copper piece.

Furthermore, the electrical heating coil also suffers from the high temperatures and thus leads to premature consumption of the same.
 EMI1.1

If the soldering iron is not working, however, an additional resistor is automatically switched in front of the heating coil in order to rule out an undesirable increase in temperature. A device is provided so that this series resistor is switched off during work by the pressure of the hand of the worker, so that the heating coil then receives the full current. This facility, however, complicates the construction of the soldering iron and increases the cost of manufacture. In addition, the facility also gives rise to operational disruptions. It has also already been proposed to install a thermostat to interrupt the working current in the copper piston.

   This proposal is impractical.

The present invention consists in arranging a thermostat in the power line next to the resistance heater inside the stem tube, which is used to hold the heater and the connections of the power line and to connect the handle to the copper piston, so that the thermostat is directly connected to the The radiator is installed inside the stem tube, with a common insulating piece enclosing both the thermostat and the electrically conductive parts. In this way, it is possible to create a soldering iron, without any significant increase in cost or other complications of manufacture, in which the temperature is definitely regulated so that a certain temperature limit cannot be exceeded.

This completely avoids the disadvantages complained about above. There is also the fact that electricity is saved significantly. The present solution to the problem known per se represents a construction which can hardly be surpassed in its simplicity, cheapness and safety. It enables the invention to be retrofitted to soldering irons already on the market without any other changes.

An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing: FIG. 1 shows an electric soldering iron equipped with a thermostat according to the invention in a view and partially in section. 2 shows the internal device of the thermostat and gives an example of the design of the common insulating body produced in one piece for the thermostat and for the power connection parts, both for the connection of the heating cartridge and for the connection of the power supply cable. FIG. 3 shows a section along line A-B of FIG.

forms that it is suitable both for the reception of the thermostat as well as for the reception of all current-supplying parts which carry out the current transmission between the ends of the connection cable 2 and the heating element 4. The thermostat can, however, also form a special structural element of the appropriate shape in order to be able to be removed or inserted at any time from the metal tube 3, for the purpose of replacement, regulation to any temperature limits and the like. like
