Verfahren zur Herstellung konzentrierter wässeriger Lösungen des Follikelhormons.
Die äusserst geringe Löslichkeit des Follikelhormons in Wasser (Zeitschrift f. physiol. Chem.
Nr. 223/1934, S. 149) hat es bis jetzt nicht gestattet, wässerige Lösungen davon von genügender Stärke für Injektionen und zum oralen Gebrauch herzustellen.
Man hat diesem Übelstande dadurch abzuhelfen versucht, dass man das Hormon durch Veresterung mit zweibasischen Säuren in wasserlösliche Salze überführte. Diese Art der Herstellung von verstärkten Hormonlösungen hat aber den Nachteil an sich, dass chemische Umsetzungen durchgeführt werden müssen.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass es auf einfache Weise gelingt, klare, wässerige Lösungen des unveränderten Follikelhormons in für die therapeutische Verwendung genügender Stärke zu erhalten, wenn man in dem zur Lösung verwendeten Wasser Resorcin löst. Man erhält auf diese Weise klar filtrierbare und ohne Zersetzung sterilisierbare Lösungen. Durch Zusatz anderer geeigneter Phenole kann das Lösungsvermögen des Resorcins noch erhöht werden.

The extremely low solubility of the follicle hormone in water (Zeitschrift f. Physiol. Chem.
No. 223/1934, p. 149) has hitherto not made it possible to prepare aqueous solutions thereof of sufficient strength for injections and for oral use.
Attempts have been made to remedy this disadvantage by converting the hormone into water-soluble salts by esterification with dibasic acids. However, this type of production of reinforced hormone solutions has the inherent disadvantage that chemical reactions have to be carried out.
It has now been found that it is possible in a simple manner to obtain clear, aqueous solutions of the unchanged follicular hormone in sufficient strength for therapeutic use if resorcinol is dissolved in the water used for the solution. In this way, clearly filterable solutions which can be sterilized without decomposition are obtained. The dissolving power of the resorcinol can be increased by adding other suitable phenols.
