Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Brennkraftmaschine mit obenliegender Nockenwelle
 EMI1.1

 EMI1.2
erungen mit schwingenden Nocken liegen ganz anders all, s be, j umlaufenden Nocken.

Internal combustion engine with overhead camshaft
 EMI1.1
which is driven by eccentric bearing rods.

The invention itself consists in the fact that the camshaft is set in oscillating motion with relatively Mein Aussc'hlagwinkel by the push rods, whereby the mutual distance between camshaft and drive shaft is precisely determined by a known special spacing rod, whereby the by the Assembly as a result of inaccurate manufacturing (tolerances) resulting length differences, as well as the thermal expansions occurring during operation, can be eliminated.
 EMI1.2
All, s be, j revolving cams are completely different with oscillating cams.

While changes in length of the motor unit with rotating cams result in only small angular rotations, which are of course permissible within certain limits, with an oscillating cam it is required that, with a rotation angle of the cam that is significantly less than 180, both the three periods during which the Valve should be closed when

 Need to become.

It is therefore obvious that the shape of the cam must be completely different from that of rotating cams, but the elevation must roughly correspond to that of a rotating cam in order to obtain suitable acceleration values.

Half the elevation curve is thus formed by the vibrating cam during a relatively small angle of rotation. If this angle provided for this is reduced or enlarged by changes in the position of the camshaft, the length of the elevation curve is lengthened, increased or reduced during opening and closing, but the height of the valve lift is also influenced by this, since the cam does not like a rotating cam up to

te control element swings out, but significantly less.

Experiments have shown that such motors have errors in the area of the elevation curve of around 20%, which can be traced back to distance errors of only 0.5 mm.

The error values of 0.5 mm will always occur, even with careful processing, simply due to the need for several temporarily stored seals, which result in strong variations in their strengths and depending on their contact pressures.

The only way to obtain useful results in all operating states and with all tolerances occurring in production is the compensation provided according to the invention by using a spacer rod.

According to FIGS. 1 to 3, the crank drives 6 and 7 are used to drive the camshafts 1 and 1 a, which only perform an oscillating movement. These actuate via levers 22 the cams 2 seated on the shafts 1, 1 a, and these in turn the rocker arms 3 which via the Ku-

Fig. 2). The camshaft J? is driven by the crank drive 7 and the hollow camshaft la by the crank drive 6. The crank drives 6, 7 receive their drive from the crankshaft 9 via the gear ratio.

The shape of the cams 2, which is illustrated in Fig. 2, must be chosen so that the

maintenance values. The vibrating cam forms half of the elevation curve, as can be seen from the drawing, with a relatively small angle of rotation.

If the angle determining the change in position of the camshaft is reduced or enlarged, then, as already mentioned, the length of the elevation curve is lengthened or reduced when opening and closing. In addition, the height of the valve lift is also quite strongly influenced by this.

The inevitable manufacturing inaccuracies in the manufacture of the named components of the arrangement according to the invention are adequately compensated for by the spacer rod 10 arranged in FIGS. At the same time, the disruptive heat influences are also intercepted.

A housing 11 which is arranged so as to oscillate perpendicular to the camshafts 1, la ensures that jamming of the camshafts 1, la is prevented. The housing 11, in the bearing lugs 12 of which the rocker arms 3 are mounted by means of the bolts 14 (FIG. 3), is in turn rotatable in the bearing blocks 13.

Another example is shown in FIGS. The only difference is that each valve is assigned its own camshaft 1 with cam 2, the camshafts being actuated by rocker arms 16 which are connected to the eccentric rods by means of bolts 21. The basic arrangement, however, is the same as in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, which is why the same reference numerals are used here.
