Österreichische PATENTSCHRIFT Nr 20942. DR. GUSTAV BRUHNS IN CHARLOTTENBURG.

Manganates oder Permanganates in He- rührung bringt.

Austrian PATENT LETTER No. 20942. DR. GUSTAV BRUHNS IN CHARLOTTENBURG.

   Process for de-ironing water.

It is well known that manganese peroxide has proven to be an effective means of removing iron from all types of raw water. A fine distribution increases this effect
 EMI1.1
finely distributed form brought to use on a base of solid substances, which makes it useful in smaller and larger quick filters, especially in the form of pocket, table, household, travel, army or industrial filters.

The fine distribution of Mangansuperoxyldes z. B. achieved in an expedient manner that one suitable organic substances, such as wood fiber, paper pulp, tissue abfäne, cork or the like, with the solution of a. Brings Manganates or Permanganates into contact.

When the manganic acids are reduced, the insoluble manganese peroxide hydrate (or the compound of the same with the in the
 EMI1.2
ganite) in all parts of the substances mentioned, so that they are completely impregnated with them and thorn over filtered ferrous and impure water, which
 EMI1.3
The aid of the above-described mass is therefore very simple: it consists in bringing the water into contact with the mass for some time, either discontinuously or in continuous streams, in open or closed containers. to run over the same. After some time of familiarization, the execution also delivers
 EMI1.4
The filter agent has a clarifying effect.

The use of filters interspersed with manganese peroxide for water sterilization and for biological wastewater treatment has become known through German patents No. 100716, No. 105109 and No. 117272. The use of such filters according to the present invention for de-ironing water is to be distinguished from this as being in a completely different field.
