 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Mixing circuit for very high frequencies
The invention relates to a mixer circuit for very high frequencies, a high frequency stage being coupled to a mixer stage via a band filter which consists of two circuits that are matched to the input frequency and each have an inner line and a conductive sheath. The circles are thus in the form of concentric systems of holes, and the coupling can be capacitive or inductive by means of an opening in a common part of the shell or by means of a coupling loop. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for television receivers for tuning in the ultra-high frequency band which extends from 470 to 890 MHz.

In this ultra-high frequency range in particular, the oscillator radiation presents a problem.

Some of the oscillations generated by the local oscillator enter the antenna circuit via the aforementioned preselection elements and the electrode capacitances of a possible high-frequency amplifier tube. The aim of the invention is to create a device in which, by extremely simple means, almost complete suppression of the radiation reaching the antenna via the path mentioned is achieved, u. by providing tuning means for a wide frequency range.

The invention consists in the fact that the second band filter circuit contains a second inner line connected to the input electrode of the mixing tube and that the other end of this line is led through the wall of the covers into the first band filter circuit and is arranged there in such a way that an additional coupling of the input circuit of the Mixing tube with the first band filter circuit is brought about, which coupling for the oscillator oscillation is opposite to the coupling in the normal way.

The two circles are preferably directly adjacent to one another; they have a common wall and the shells form a whole. You only need to make an opening in this wall at a suitable point through which the end of the latter line facing away from the inlet circuit of the mixing tube is passed and connected to the common wall in such a way that a coupling loop is formed at the point in question which only needs to have a very small surface.

The pre-selection circuits are coordinated by means of coupled capacitors, the fixed plates of which are connected to the ends of the inner lines of the Lechersystems, while the movable plates are connected to the casings via the axis. A similar Lecher line can be used for the oscillator circuit, which is arranged directly next to the two lines and shares part of the wall with them.

An embodiment of a device according to the invention is shown in the drawing, for example.

The antenna vibrations are fed to terminals 1. They are transmitted via a transformer and a capacitance to the cathode of the high-frequency amplifier tube 2, the grid of which is earthed. The amplified oscillations are fed from the anode of the tube via a capacitor to the inner line 3 of the first tuning circuit. The inner line is located in the space 40, which is almost closed to the outside by a conductive wall. The lower end of the line 3 is connected to the fixed plates 4 of a rotary capacitor used for tuning. The axis of the same is conductively connected to the casing via springs 15.

A second space 5 has an inner conduit 7, the lower end of which is connected to the fixed plates 12 of a rotary capacitor with the axis 14 coupled to the former. On the same
Axis is also the tuning system for the local oscillator, the frequency-determining circle of which is designed in a similar way to the first circles with an inner line 11, which is connected to the fixed
Plates 13 of the tuning capacitor is connected.

The upper end of the line 7 is connected to the common sheath via a trimmer capacitor 6. The two Lechersystems, which are tuned to the input frequency, are coupled to a small extent, so that they form a high-frequency band filter that covers a frequency range

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

from Z. B. 10 MHz passes. The coupling is brought about partly through the axis 14 of the capacitors and partly through an opening 16 at the location of an upper space of the lines 3 and 7.

There is also a self-oscillating triode 9 with a grid which is grounded for high frequencies via a feed-through capacitor and which is also connected to the common frame via a resistor to achieve the correct DC voltage setting. The tube 9 acts as a high-frequency generator by means of the inter-electrode capacitance; the natural frequency is determined by the elements housed in room 10. The anode is connected to the upper end of the line 11 via a capacitor, while the cathode is connected to the common shell via the line 8 in the space 5. The line 8 forms a coupling loop 18 with the circle in the space 40.

The oscillator oscillations are mixed with the input oscillations in the tube 9 and oscillations with the difference frequency can be taken from the inductance 19. However, the oscillator vibrations also reach the coupling between the spaces 40, 5 via the line 8 and the antenna via the anode-cathode capacitance of the tube 2 and cause undesirable radiation.

According to the invention, the line 8 is arranged in a special way, u. It is passed through an opening in the common wall between spaces 40 and 5, whereby a coupling loop 18 is formed in the first space. If this loop is correctly arranged, an oscillator signal is induced in the anode circuit of the tube 2 which is in phase opposition to the oscillator voltage which arrives at this point via the path described above.

The latter voltage is already weakened here as a result of the normal selectivity of the bandpass filter, so that the loop M only needs to bring about a very slight coupling and the transmission of the television input signal is practically not influenced. The correct compensation can be set by changing the position of the loop 18. This is easy to do if the various spaces 40, 5 and 10 are closed on the front by a common detachable metal cover.

The lines 3, 7 and 11 are preferably strip-shaped and have a length of about 8 cm with a maximum value of the tuning capacitances of 16 p F. If the loop 18 is attached approximately in the middle of the strip 3, an excellent compensation of the oscillator voltage can be practically the entire tuning range can be achieved.

The oscillator frequency is usually far outside the pass range of the bandpass filter, so that the phase difference between the oscillator oscillation fed back via the normal coupling and that via the loop 18 is practically 1,800.
