Dieae uene ZUndmMse gestattet die Herstellung von Zündhölzchen auch ohne vorheriges Acstroknon, Vorwärmen oder Paraffinieren dss8'Holz- drahtes und bezweckt überdies noch, die'Entftammun8 des Zündmassentragors, Holzdraht oder Wachshölzchen sicher zu machen und Explosionsgefahr bei Zubereitung der Zünd- masse zu beseitigen. Das Allzuhartwerden der Zündholzköpfe ist nicht zu befürchten ; die Abgabe des Sauerstoffes seitens des chlorsauren Kali beim Entzünden des Hölzchens ist so erleichtert, dass zur Entzündung'kein Schwefel nötig ist.
Die Wirkungsweise der einzelnen Teile des Breies aus Kork, Eisenmennige und Mehl erklärt sich in der Weise, dass der gepulverte Kork nicht nur das Absetzen der Bestandteile der Zündmasse verhindert, sondern auch der Masse eine Weichheit und Geschmeidigkeit gibt und vor allem, im Gegensatze zu dem bekannterweise verwendeten Holzpulver u. dgl., durch ein Verkohlen ein zu rasches Aufflackern der Zündmasse verhindert. Das Mehl hat die Eigenschaft, die Masse zu der für den Tunkprozess notwendigen Konsistenz zu bringen, gewissermassen Füllstoff zu sein, und. die Eisenmennige hat die besondere Aufgabe, zu bewirken, dass die Köpfe sich vorn abrunden, während sie anderenfalls fadenartig auslaufen würden.
Der fertige Zündholzkopf kann schliesslich mit einer Fettschicht überzogen werden, welche denselben gegen alle atmosphärischen Einflüsse schützt und eine Selbstentzündung bei der Fabrikation, sowie beim Transporte verhindert.
