According to the present method, pipes made of wood pulp are to be soaked using a special soaking substance known under the name "Colbit". In the present case, the impregnation takes place in a bath which is kept permanently at a temperature of about 1200 C, and the like. between until the tubes are completely saturated. #Colbit "is obtained by mixing strongly boiled coal tar (or mineral resin) with plaster of paris or cement. This mixture is then allowed to solidify by cooling, made liquid again by heating again, and thoroughly

It is already known to coat pipes made of paper with asphalt. These pipes are too expensive to manufacture and show insufficient strength. After before-

Immersed in the Colbit bath at 120 C for 48 hours. For a strength of 2 a ml, the immersion would take three times as long, etc. The wood pulp (cellulose) is subject to a change as a result of this long bath. The pipes obtained are more resistant than cast and unbreakable.
