Asbestzement, Holz, Gips u. a., werden Harzlösungen unterschiedlichster Art verwendet.

For the impregnation or sealing post-treatment of absorbent building materials such as concrete,
Asbestos cement, wood, plaster, etc. a., Resin solutions of various kinds are used. Epoxy resin formulations based on two component mixtures have proven to be particularly resistant. The use of fatty acid amines has hitherto been recommended for good wetting and high adhesive strength. However, such formulations are very sluggish at the temperatures customary on construction sites, only cure incompletely and have no tack-free surface.
It has now been found that a satisfactory solution to the problem can be achieved if a new amine adduct is used as a component of the impregnating agent and this amine adduct is produced by a novel reaction procedure and using a special solvent and a special amine.
The invention now relates to a process for the preparation of this new amine adduct.
According to the prior art, in-situ adducts with an excess of about 25 gel% amine are produced in such a way that the amine is rapidly added to the solution of the resin intended for the adduct formation
Stirring is incorporated. Experience has shown that adduct hardeners have very different viscosities in this process, depending on the rate at which the amine is added and the intensity of mixing. A spread of
110 to 190 Ford mug seconds are common.
According to the prior art, on the other hand, adducts without an excess of amine were prepared in such a way that, when the amine excess was 25% by weight, the amine was initially charged, the resin was added in portions, stirred and, when the solution and reaction had ended, the excess amine was driven off with the solvents. A dry mixture was obtained which was commercially available as a powder.
In the method of the invention, the cumbersome and costly step of aborting the solvents with the excess amine is avoided. The advantages of both processes are combined. The adduct produced according to the invention is obtained as a solution which can be stored as required.
The small excess of the amine is generally not more than 5 gel% of the theoretically determined weight.
The inventive method for producing the new amine adduct is characterized in that a cycloaliphatic polyamine is mixed with toluene or a mixture containing toluene and aliphatic solvents in a slight excess over the value theoretically required for the formation of an adduct with an epoxy resin and then preferably mixed with stirring flaky epoxy resin was added in portions and the mixture was stirred for 5 h until it was completely dissolved and reacted.
Preferably 44 parts by weight of diaminodicyclohexylmethane are reacted with 100 parts by weight of an epoxy resin based on diphenylolpropane.
The process according to the invention gives a precisely reproducible, low-viscosity product with constant properties. This new adduct, used as a hardener component, enables the production of an impregnating agent for absorbent building materials with a solids content of about 30 gel%.
The method according to the invention is explained in more detail using the examples.
Example 1: To produce the adduct, 85 kg of butanol, 65 kg of toluene and 30 kg of a commercially available mixture of cycloaliphatic polyamines are introduced into a stirred tank in any order and mixed. 70 kg of a commercially available epoxy resin are then introduced in portions with stirring. If pre-dissolved resins are used, these are converted accordingly. The addition has to be done very slowly, especially at the beginning; In the last third of the addition, thorough mixing must be carried out particularly carefully in order to avoid local over-concentrations of resin. With the stirred tank covered, the mixture is stirred at room temperature for 5 h. A transparent, slightly yellowish solution with a viscosity of 25 Ford cup seconds and a density of 0.94 is obtained.
EXAMPLE 2 The procedure is the same as in Example 1, except that the following batch is used: 120 kg of butanol, 90 kg of toluene, 42 kg of a commercial mixture of cycloaliphatic polyamines, 98 kg of commercial epoxy resin.
The new amine adducts produced according to the invention are particularly suitable as hardener components for impregnating agents for absorbent building materials.
