Das vorliegende Verfahren lässt sich mit besonderem Vorteil auch auf Baryamcyan- amid enthaltende Gemische anwenden, wie sie z. B. nach dem oben erwähnten Verfahren von Marguerite und Sourdeval gewonnen werden. Man arbeitet in diesem Falle zweckmässig so, dass man das Gemenge von Baryumoxyd bezw. Baryumcarbonat und Kohle zunächst zur Bildung eines Produktes mit höchstem Stickstoffgehalt bei möglichst hoher Temperatur mit Stickstoff oder einem Stickstoff enthaltenden Gase behandelt und sodann zum Zwecke der Umwandlung des Cyanamids in Cyanid dem Brenngut bei der Abkühlung aktiven Kohlenstoff in Form von kohlenstoffhAltigen Gasen zuführt.
Beispiel 1.
Rohes Baryumcyanid, dessen Stickstoff zu ca. 600/0 als Cyanid und zu 4 (JO/o als Cyanamid gebunden ist, wird in einem eisernen Gefäss unter Durchleiten von Acetylen auf 600- 800 C erhitzt. Die Umwandlung in das Cyanid ist innerhalb weniger Stunden beendet.
Beispiel Il.
Ein Gemisch von S Teilen Bariumcarbonat und l Teil Holzkohlenputver wird hrikettiert und in einem Chamottegefäss unter Durch ! eiten von Stickstoff auf zirka 15000 C
