Es kann noch hinzugefügt werden, dass Berthelot bei seinen Versuchen mit reinem Kohlenoxyd arbeiten konnte, während in der Technik nur ein Generatorgas von etwa 32 Prozent Kohlenoxydgehalt in Frage kommen kann. Die Verhältnisse, unter denen Berthelot arbeitete, sind daher mit dem vorliegenden Verfahren nicht zu vergleichen, und es ergibt sich ohne weiteres, dass-sie zu ganz verschiedenen Ergebnissen führen.
Das vorliegende Verfahren hat dem Verfahren nach dem D. R. P. Nr. 86419 gegen- über den Vorteil, dass die Ätzalkalien nicht zu mahlen und zu mischen sind, eine Arbeit, die, wie jeder Techniker weiss, höchst unangenehm ist, und bei welcher das Ätznatron namentlich bei feuchtem Wetter leicht Kohlensäure und Wasser anzieht, so dass dabei Verluste entstehen bezw. das Ätznatron infolge des hohen Feuchtigkeitsgehaltes zur Darstellung von Formiat ungeeignet wird. Da dem Ätzalkali Verteilungskörper nicht zugemischt werden, ist das nach vorliegendem Verfahren hergestellte Formiat sofort handelsfertig und verwondungsfähig.

It can be added that Berthelot was able to work with pure carbon oxide in his experiments, while in technology only a generator gas with about 32 percent carbon oxide content can be used. The conditions under which Berthelot worked cannot therefore be compared with the present method, and it is obvious that they lead to completely different results.
The present method has the advantage over the method according to DRP No. 86419 that the caustic alkalis do not have to be ground and mixed, a job which, as every technician knows, is extremely unpleasant, and in which caustic soda is involved easily attracts carbonic acid and water in damp weather, so that losses arise resp. the caustic soda is unsuitable for the production of formate due to the high moisture content. Since distribution bodies are not mixed with the caustic alkali, the formate produced according to the present process is immediately ready for sale and can be used.
