  Mechanical time fuse with clockwork.

The invention relates to clockwork mechanical time fuses. The tension springs previously used for the clockworks of such detonators were ordinary clock springs; H. thin, spirally wound steel strips made elastic through a hardening and tempering process. Such springs, which occasionally break even in clockworks that are constantly working and fearfully protected from hard impacts, because of the difficulty of uniform hardening, offer little protection against breakage when used for clockworks for mechanical time fuses. The causes of the risk of breakage lie in the peculiar stresses to which the mainspring of the clockworks of mechanical time detonators is exposed.

The spring remains taut for years during the storage time of the detonator in the magazines and is then suddenly very heavily stressed when the detonator is consumed by the violent shock that occurs during firing and the centrifugal force effective during the flight of the projectile. As a result, spring breaks occur relatively often
Bring about failure.

The invention now aims to create clockwork mechanical time fuses that are completely reliable. According to the invention, this purpose is achieved in that the tension springs are made from hard-drawn steel wire, the natural elasticity of which has been increased by mechanical processing in the cold state, such as drawing, rolling or hammering.

Springs made from hard-drawn steel wire are known per se. But there such

Experiments have shown that tension springs are made from hard-drawn wire. the natural elasticity of which has been increased by mechanical processing in the cold state, has fully grown to the peculiar stresses that occur with mechanical time detonators. The springs are unbreakable and retain their elasticity. With

Rolling in the cold state is made of round wire and has thus at the same time experienced the processing required to increase the elasticity.
