Process for the production of release papers with water colors.
Release papers printed with watercolors using gum arabic, gum tragacanth or dextrin as binders have hitherto been widely used. They are used to transfer drawings of a wood grain on an oil paint base (door panels) or a marble design on wall plaster painted in oil, etc. Originally, such painting work was done exclusively by hand by painting on watercolors (Kasseler Braun, etc.). In order to simplify this time-consuming work, which is highly dependent on the skill of the painter, a large number of methods have been devised in which the drawing is applied either by mechanical devices or by means of stencils or, as mentioned, is transferred to the oil paint base using release paper .
Of all these processes, only the release papers have gained general practical importance, and if their original use has declined significantly in recent years, it is only because the aqueous binders previously used (gum arabic, tragacanth, dextrin) caused the oil varnish to crack caused with which the drawing must be covered. This lacquer cracking occurs with certainty up to 1/2 year after the work has been carried out.
It has now been found that the salts of the acids such as potash, sodium or obtained by saponification of oils, fats, waxes, resins, etc.
Ammonium salts of higher fatty acids, oleic acids and resin acids (soaps) can be used as binders for the colors and allow several copies in a row to the same extent as gum arabic from a release paper. When using the mentioned Sal / c, however, tearing of the lacquer layer is completely avoided.
For the production of the printing ink for the release papers are concentrated. watery
Solutions of the salts mentioned are mixed with earth and mineral colors, lacquers or tar dyes, with or without the addition of uncolored substrates.
B e p i e! l. The following is used: 50 oleic acid, 16 g of soda (anhydrous), 220 g of water, boil while the evaporated water is added.
To this you add: 200 g barite, 50 g ocher, 20 g real brown.
Example 2. The following are used: fj0 g rosin, 12 9 soda, 350 g water, boil while refilling the evaporated water.
