Gusseiserner Formkasten.

Cast iron molding box.
The present invention relates to cast iron molding boxes which are successfully protected by placing frames or rings made of forgeable iron on the outer wall of the molding box mold, which, after casting, firmly enclose the molding box.
Fig. 1 shows the perspective view, Fig. 2 shows a cross section along line A-B of Fig. 1 through a molding box wall.
In the drawing, a designates the cast frame and b the frame made of forgeable iron.
So far mainly molding boxes made of cast iron have been used. These have the disadvantage that they break easily when the molding sand is knocked out and due to temperature fluctuations. The boxes therefore often have to be repaired, which results in high costs for the foundry.
If a cast iron molding box is now surrounded by a forgeable frame or an iron ring, the molding box does not crack at all. The frames and rings can have various shapes and can be arranged in any number.
There are also wrought-iron molding boxes in use, but they move when the molding sand is pounded into the box and also when the sand mold is dried inside
Prefer oven. The consequence of this is that an exact cast is not made. In addition, the wrought iron mold boxes are very expensive.
