  Unterschubfeuerung.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Underfeed.

This invention relates to those duct fires known as underfeed fires in which the self-tapping fuel progresses from forward to
 EMI1.1
 or burning layer is introduced.

The great advantage of these furnaces, that they work with the lowest possible smoke development, is offset by the disadvantage that the slag is very difficult to remove and relatively large amounts of still unburned material are transported out of the furnace when it is discharged, resulting in fuel losses or costly Work for the recovery of the unused fuel occurs.

The well-known arrangement of slag discharge tracks on both sides of the firing channel, dif continuously or intermittently in operation, remove the slag material deposited on them, do not meet their purpose, because they also convey the fuel lying on the slag out of the furnace and so withdraw from its intended use. According to the present invention, the slag tracks are adjustable in a perpendicular sense, so that the middle slag lying directly on the slag track
 EMI1.2
Reaching parts of the slag layer can be broken away and transported out of the furnace alone, the roof-like cross-sectional shape of the slag allowing the fuel resting on it to fall to the side, which is thus retained by the furnace.

The lifting of the slag tracks is best done by making them pivotable about the axis of the guide drum located at the discharge end.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in FIG. 1 in a vertical cross section and in FIG. 2 in a longitudinal section through the one slag track; 3 and 4 show, in the same representation, an individual part on a larger scale.
 EMI1.3

A slag track is arranged to the side of the protective walls in a manner known per se, which, according to the embodiment shown, consists of a chain track d similar to the traveling grates, which is laid over guide rollers or rollers e and is set in progressive motion continuously or temporarily.
 EMI1.4

The bearings of the axles / carry supports k which, with rollers M arranged at their lower end, are on a conductor track! t shift. At the supports A attack pressure rods o, which are led to the outside on the front side of the furnace and provided with a Uewinde p, with the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

they grip a handwheel q designed as a nut. By turning the latter, the supports k can be moved to raise the rear rollers e. Since experience has shown that the slags are deposited directly next to the wind feed devices, they will cover the slag band d, but are in turn also covered by fuel.

By lifting the slag tracks at one end, the slag is partially broken and the fuel is also given the opportunity to fall off the side of the slag track, all the more so as the slag is deposited in the form of a roof-shaped band in cross section.

However, so that fuel cannot get into the guide channels g of the latter when the slag tracks are raised, the screens r are arranged on both sides of the tracks, which are attached to the movement of the axis. f take part and permanently close the canals g at the side.

The part of the furnace bottom that adjoins the liftable guide device of the slag path is designed as a flap s in order not to hinder the mobility of the slag path.
 EMI2.1

1. Underfeed firing with slag discharge tracks arranged on both sides of the firing channel or the wind feed device, characterized in that the slag tracks can be raised at the end opposite the slag discharge point in order to remove the middle slag strip from the side of the slag track before it is discharged.
