Raw material pre-cleaned in this way is somehow freed from the asphalt. Various methods can be used for this purpose, depending on the properties and sales opportunities of the resulting products and local conditions.
For example, the tube wax can be dissolved in light gasoline and then left to stand at a relatively low temperature for about 24 hours until the separated asphalt has settled, or the wax is dissolved in a sufficient amount of ethyl ether and mixed with half the amount of ethyl alcohol and also with Let it stand at a low temperature for about 24 hours until the asphalt has settled. The tube wax can also be treated with ethyl alcohol from 980, whereby the asphalt remains undissolved. In all these cases, the solution of the wax in the corresponding solvent is freed from the precipitated asphalt in some way, the solvent or
Solvents and precipitants are driven off by distillation and the wax is then brought to the appropriate melting point.
In cases where the precipitated asphalt material can be neglected, the following method will better achieve the goal: the melted, pre-cleaned pipe wax or the like is treated with sulfuric acid of 66 Be at a higher temperature and left to stand out from the precipitated resins at the same temperature, removed. The acidified wax, which has been freed from the acid resins as completely as possible, possibly even by alkaline solutions, can be applied to the by subsequent distillation with or without superheated steam
