Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

extrahiert.

After the last residue of alcohol has been distilled off, the extraction residue is a completely neutral, colorless fat. The alcohol used for extraction is also distilled off, leaving behind the total fatty acid and the colorants contained in the raw fat.
II. An almost neutral, but yellow, finely ground Illipetalg are z. B. 5% of its weight of colorless Illipetalgfettsäure, also finely crushed, mixed in. As indicated in the previous example, this mixture is extracted with alcohol. In addition to the small amounts of fatty acid originally contained in the fat, the added fatty acid and all of the coloring matter go into the extract, so that, in accordance with the purpose of this operation, a neutral, colorless fat results.
III. The seeds of Shorea-Aptera, which provide Borneo algae, are crushed as usual for extraction purposes and subjected to an extraction with alcohol at around 150 ° C.
In this way, the free fatty acids and some of the color are removed from the seeds. After the alcohol has been driven off from the extraction residue, the neutral fat is removed from it in the usual way by extraction or pressing. In the event that one wanted to extract the neutral fat, which is insoluble in cold alcohol and soluble in warm alcohol, with hot alcohol, it is of course not necessary to completely drive off the alcohol from the first operation beforehand.
PATENT CLAIMS: l. Process for removing the free fatty acids and the non-fatty impurities from fats and oils by extraction with solvents in which the fats are difficult to dissolve the impurities and the fatty acids, on the other hand, are more easily soluble, characterized in that the fats are removed at temperatures below their melting point or the oils at
Temperatures below or near their solidification point, expediently after

extracted.
