Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   The metal coating can also be fixed by subsequent treatment with a drying oil and conversion of the same into a dry varnish, for example by exposure by means of UV light. In this case, too, the conversion of the oil into a dry varnish is limited to the outermost surface layer, and the unconverted oil remaining inside the material can be extracted by solvents.

   The process of subsequent application of a lacquer coating to the metallized material is, according to previous experience, less than oil impregnation before metallization. If the oil is incorporated into the fabric before metallization, there is a remarkable saving in metal and an increased gloss of the metal coating. The full metal color is achieved on the oiled fiber with significantly less metal expenditure than is possible on the dry fiber. This is probably due to the fact that the oil impregnation makes the fabric surfaces more even, so that the surface to be covered with metal becomes smaller, and that the oil prevents the metal rods from penetrating greater depths.

   There is also the fact that when the material is gilded, for example, the first touch of gold on the dry fiber has a dark blue color, while it appears red on the oiled surface, which color is more easily covered by the gold than the blue.

   The importance of the fixation of the metal coating is based essentially on the fact that the metallized materials become more resistant to moisture while in dry conditions
State of the materials the metal coating adheres perfectly even without this fixation.

   The metal powder is not surrounded by the paint when the metal is deposited on the oil-impregnated material. Rather, the surface of the metal coating is completely free of paint, which is, for. B. it follows that it can be amalgamated without further ado.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Process for the production of durable metal coatings on flexible, fine-pored, cellular, possibly fibrous material, preferably fabric, tips. Feathers and textile fibers by passing them through a streamline field generated in a vacuum and filled with metallic electrode dust, characterized by the fixing of the metal dust on the surface of the fabric by a layer of lacquer on the fabric
Dry brought oil.
