   Sowohl bei der Reinigung von bei trockener Destillation von kohlenstoffhaltigem Material aller Art erhaltenen Ammoniumsalzen, insbesondere Ammoniumchlorid, Ammoniumsulfat, Ammoniumsulfit, als auch bei Ammoniumsulfat, welches durch Neutralisation von Abfallschwefelsäuren aller Art erhalten wird, zeigt sich der Übelstand, dass die erhaltenen Salze dunkel gefärbt sind, weil die teerigen Anteile sich ausserordentlich schwer entfernen lassen. Gleichzeitig haftet dem Produkte der Teergeruch an. Beide Ursachen machen das Produkt minderwertig. 



   Es hat sich gezeigt, dass es gelingt, diese fremden und schädigenden Bestandteile zu entfernen und die Salze in lichter Farbe rein und gut kristallisiert zu erhalten, wenn man die entsprechend verdünnten Lösungen der unreinen Salze mit Luft von jeweils zu bestimmender Temperatur eine durch Vorversuche festgestellte Zeit lang behandelt, sodann mit Ammoniak schwach übersättigt, hierauf durch reinen Sand, Bleicherden oder sonst ein Filtermaterial vorzugsweise von oben nach unten filtriert und zum Schlusse, falls noch nötig, das Filtrat so lange mit Wasserdampf behandelt, bis keinerlei Spuren teeriger Anteile mit dem letzteren übergehen. 



  Aus der so gereinigten Lösung gewinnt man die Salze in gewohnter Weise.
