   An dem Motorwagen ist ein bekannter, sich unter der Wirkung einer Kurbel oder eines Pedals um eine horizontale Achse drehender Haken angebracht. Dieser durch den Führer abwärts drückbare Haken dreht den Hebel 1 um die Achse 2 ; diese drehende Bewegung wird durch eine Zugstange 3 der   Scheibe   übermittelt ;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Automatic point setting device for trams with a lateral guide channel.

The purpose of the invention is to enable the driver of a tram motor vehicle to set the switches of the tram lines with a lateral guide channel in one position or the other without having to leave his place and support the tongue or pointed rail in the position in which it is just located. wherein the device leaves the cross section of the guide channel free for the entire duration of the function.

In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown, namely: in FIG. 1 the device arranged in the track; in Fig. 2 a section along the line 2-2 of Fig. 3; in Fig. 3 a section along the line 3-3 of Fig. 2; in Fig. 4 a general view of the switch with the electric drive device
 EMI1.1
in Fig. 5 and 6 the electrical commutator in vertical and horizontal section.

FIG. I shows the switch in the position open to the right; To explain the function of the system, it is now assumed that the motor vehicle passing through first has to take in the direction to the left.

   A known hook is attached to the motor vehicle and rotates about a horizontal axis under the action of a crank or pedal. This hook, which can be pushed downwards by the operator, rotates the lever 1 about the axis 2; this rotating movement is transmitted by a tie rod 3 of the disc;

The latter rotates the lever arm 8 about the axis 9 by means of the pull rod 5 of the lever arm 6 and the small pull rod 7 and brings the same into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. i, for the purpose that if the next through motor vehicle takes the direction to the left has to act on the lever arm 8 through its hook, which then applies to the rail neck.
 EMI1.2
of the tie rods 10 and 11, this disc rotates as a result of its rotation the balancer -13 about the vertical axis 14 shown in Fig. 1, 2 and 3, which takes along the toothed circular segment 16 in its movement, the latter on the axis of a cranked rod 17, 18, 19 which forms the main part of the invention.

The discussion so far has only had the purpose of making the invention work
 EMI1.3
various types can be achieved, e.g. B. by hand. by electric motor or electromagnet, by means of compressed air, press water, etc.

The lower end 17 of the cranked rod rotates in a bearing: 20, the upper end 19, on the other hand, is mounted in the pointed rail, which is to be transferred from its current position 21 to that position 22, which corresponds to an opening of the switch to the left. It can be seen that the axis of the lower part 17 of the cranked rod coincides with the axis of rotation Zi- y of the entire system, while the axis of the upper part 19 moves away from the axis of rotation, remains parallel with it, in such a way that, if the
 EMI1.4
Lines shown position 17, M, 19 in the dotted line position 17, 24, 25 is transferred, at the same time the pointed rail from their. Position 21 is converted into position 22.

In the drawings it can be seen that the cross-section of the side channel remains completely free both before and after the movement of the pointed rail.

The second pointed rail 26 is combined with the pull rod 11 by means of an S-shaped rod and is thus coupled to the pointed rail 21.
 EMI1.5
 position of the switch achieved.

A curved arm 28 (Figs. 1, 2, 3) is attached to the end of the top of the cranked rod. When the latter is twisted, the curved arm moves between the outer curved guides 29 (Figs. 1, 2 and 3), as well as between the inner guides 30 attached to the rails. It can be seen that the curved arm moves during the entire rotation the cranked rod is completely guided by the guides 20, 30; this device thus serves to aid the bearing 20, in which the spindle is left a certain amount of play.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

The cavity of the pointed rail, into which the end 19 of the cranked rod extends, is oval in order to enable the rotation of the cranked rod 17, 18 and the movement of the pointed rail 21.

Towards the pointed end, the inner curvature of the guide 29 deviates slightly from the axis of rotation. If now the bent arm in the illustrated in FIG
When it reaches its position, it is pushed slightly outwards by the action exerted by the guide 30 on the concave curve of the curved arm, as illustrated by arrows in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3.

When it is turned inwards, it takes along the cranked rod 17, 18, which inclines slightly in the direction of the arrow, due to the play prevailing in the bearing 20. The cranked one
The rod can therefore no longer turn out of time, i. H. the pointed rail is held in its outermost position.

3 shows that after the function has been completed, the curved arm connected to the pointed rail is carried by the inner guide 30, thus the absolute one
Securing the switch tongue.

Instead of moving the shaft 14, which is connected to the cranked rod 17, 18, 19, by direct mechanical translation, any other means can also be used, e.g. B. electricity, compressed air, etc. As for the electric drive, the same is illustrated by means of the arrangement shown in the drawing in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6.

The vertical shaft 14 sets the cranked rod 17, 18, 19 in rotation by means of the toothed segments 15 and 16 and is doubled by the electromagnet E
Effect forced to rotate in one direction or the other by approximately 600, the core 31 of the electromagnet common to the lever 32 shifting horizontally in one sense or the other, depending on one or the other
Winding should be excited.

The electric current is fed through the breaker of a special commutator C to the electromagnet. The former has a vertical axis 33 on which the
Arms 34, 35 are wedged, which in the extreme positions they can occupy produce the electrical connections required in the e.

At the upper end of the shaft 33 a balancer 36,37 (Fig. 4, 5) is keyed, its
Ends by means of the rods 38, 39 and the spring 40, 41 are combined with the balancer 12, 13 and thus connected to the shaft 14. The commutator is also provided with a tongue 43 and with the pawls 43, 44 moved by the rods 45, 46.

With two contacts arranged correspondingly in each direction to be selected, driving through the motor vehicle sets terminals bl and b2 or b3 and b4 des
Commutator energized.

The clamps b & not visible in FIG. 6 are provided under the clamps b3, and the clamps b2 are also located under the clamps bl, as can be seen in FIG.

The friction switch of the arm 34 connects the contacts bl, bl, one of which is connected to the first switch pl of the track and the other to the beginning wl, m of the winding of the electromagnet E, which causes the core to pivot to the right.

The friction switch of the arm 35 connects the terminals b2, b2, one of which is connected to the second switch p2 of the track and the other to an electric light signal which is provided on the track to indicate the position of the pointed rail.

The contacts b3, h3 are provided in the same way in the circuit of the magnet winding, which seeks to swing the core to the left, while the terminals b4, b4 are in the circuit of a second electrical light signal.

As soon as a car is supposed to move to the left, the connection would be made at the first contact, the core of the electromagnet connected to b1 would move to the left and force the spindle 14 to turn by 600; This rotation causes the cranked rod to rotate and opens the switch to the left, but also has the further consequence that the spring 40 is tensioned and a tension is exerted on the end 37 of the balancer 36, which end is held by the pawl 44 becomes.

When it reaches the extreme position of its path, the end 12 of the balancer 12, 13 releases the pawl 44 through the intermediary of the rod 45. Under the action of the spring 40, the core 33 of the commutator will rotate to collapse under the pawl 43 and make the necessary electrical connections for the reverse function of the switch construction,
If for any reason the points are not set perfectly, then the commutator would not become free and the carriage would like to establish a connection with the second contact connected to terminal b2, the core of the solenoid

to the right, but thereby also at the same time return the pointed rail to the position it has just left.
