Description

Process for the preparation of basic tannic aluminum.
The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of a new basic tannic aluminum, which consists in adding an aluminum salt to a caustic alkali metal solution and adding caustic alkali in such amounts that neutralization does not occur.
The new compound is intended to be used for therapeutic purposes. You develop

gray, odorless and tasteless powder, which is insoluble in cold water, soluble in acids and alkalisi in hydrochloric acid from the concentration of gastric juice, the compound is completely insoluble,
Example:
500 g of tannin are dissolved with a solution of 50 g of Na OH in 800 cm3 of water. A solution of 500 g of aluminum sulfate in 500 cm3 of water is added to this. The small amount of precipitate that forms is increased considerably when 450 cW 10% NaOH solution is added. When 1 to 2 liters of water are added, the aluminum tannate formed separates out well and can be conveniently suctioned off.
This process is also quite different from the known process for the production of a basic tannic aluminum, according to which an aluminum sulfate solution is passed through a tannic acid solution which is kept approximately neutral by ammonia liquid. This known method also gives a compound which differs sharply from that obtained by the present method. The former is a brownish powder with 5'78% aluminum content, which has only been used externally in therapy, while the compound according to the present method is a gray powder with an aluminum content that is ideally suited as an antidiarrheal.
