Process to increase the elasticity of the vulcanizates of synthetic rubbers.

The remarkable observation was made that the elasticity of synthetic rubbers can be improved by adding 10% or more of oily substances, such as petroleum, linseed oil, castor oil, paraffin oil, hemp oil, safrole, aniline, alkylaniline, xylidine, dimethyl-p-toluidine, before vulcanization etc. can improve significantly. It is thus possible to make any artificial rubber that is perfectly good and already protected from oxidation and which does not provide very elastic vulcanizates, elastically vulcanizing.

The effect achieved is based on the fact that, in order to achieve better durability of the rubber, smaller amounts of about 0.3% are not used, as according to the information in DRP No. 256413, but about 0.5% and more of the oily bodies from the finished rubber objects be absorbed entirely. This quantitative difference in the additive completely changes the quality of the product, so much so that one of

Example i.

100 parts of the polymerization product of ss-γ-dimethylbutadiene described by Kondakow in the Journal for Practical Chemistry, Volume 64, page 109 / no, are mixed on the roller with 10 parts of sulfur, 2 parts of aldehyde ammonia and 10 to 25 parts of petroleum and drawn out to a plate and then vulcanized 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours. A thoroughly elastic product is then obtained.

   Example 2.

If, in the above example, the Kondakov product is replaced by ss-y-dimethylbutadiene rubber (hot polymer), a very similar phenomenon occurs,
Example 3.

If the petroleum is replaced in example i by the same amount of safrole by weight, a highly elastic vulcanizate is also obtained.

   Example 4.

If, instead of the petroleum in Example 1, 20 parts of monomethylaniline are used and the mixture is heated to four atmospheres for 30 minutes, the vulcanized flap is also distinguished by its high elasticity.

The amounts of the above substances used can vary within wide limits.
