Umwandlung von natürlichen Kautschuksorten, denen an sich Klebkraft und Plastizität fehlen, in klebkräftige Lösungen ergebende und plastische Modifikationen.
Gewisse Rohkautschuksorten, wie z. B. der Mozambique, geben mit den bekannten Lösungsmitteln keine Lösungen von guter Klebkraft. Desgleichen geben auch die dem Rohkautschuk verwandten Stoffe Guttapercha, Belata und dgl. keine klebkräftigen Lösungen.
Gemäss dem vorliegenden Verfahren werden die vorerwähnten natürlichen Kautschuk- sorten zwecks Änderung ihrer kolloidchemischen Struktur mit einem der bekannten Kautschuklösungsmittel, z. B. Benzin, Benzol, Phenol, Anilin oder deren Homologen usw. oder Gemengen derselben durch längere Zeit bei erhöhter Temperatur behandelt, wobei die anzuwendende Temperatur und die Zeit der Behandlung sich nach der Natur des Lösungsmittels und nach dem Grade der Klebkräftigkeit bzw. Plastizität, die man erreichen will, richtet.
Die Lösungsmittel, die hier als Umwandlungsmittel der kolloidchemischen Struktur des Ausgangsmateriales dienen, können nach beendigter Umwandlung aus dem Gemisch ganz oder zum Teile entfernt werden. Das so gewonnene Produkt ist gut löslich, plastisch, klebkräftig, für Kautschukfüllmittel aufnahmsfähig und kann wie Naturkautschuk weiter ver-und bearbeitet werden.
Bei s p i e l : Balata wird auf den üblichen Walzwerken geschrottet. Der Schrott wird auf Misch-oder Knetmaschinen mit 10 bis 20% Phenol vermengt und sodann in Autoklaven mit Rührwerk 3 bis 6 Stunden hindurch auf etwa 1350 C erwärmt. Das derart gewonnene Material wird bis zur Homogenität gleichfalls bei erhöhter Temperatur geknetet, wobei gleichzeitig das verdampfende Phenol entfernt bzw. zurückgewonnen wird. Das vom Phenol mehr oder minder vollständig befreite Produkt kann wie von Natur aus hierzu geeigneter Kautschuk zu Weichgummi, zu Hartgummi oder zu Lösungen verarbeitet werden.
Handelt es sich um die Herstellung von Kautschuklösungen, so kann man auch in der Weise verfahren, dass man das verwendete Umwandlungsmittel aus dem Umwandlungsprodukte nicht erst entfernt, sondern darin belässt und bei der Herstellung von Lösungen als Lösungsmittel mitbenutzt.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : I. Umwandlung von natürlichen Kautschuksorten, denen an sich Klebkraft und Plastizität fehlen, in klebkräftige Lösungen ergebende und plastische Modifikationen, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass man diese Ausgangsprodukte bei erhöhter Temperatur mit Kautschuklösungsmitteln so lange behandelt, bis die angestrebten kolloidchemischen Strukturänderungen eingetreten sind, worauf das Umwandlungsmittel mehr oder weniger vollständig entfernt bzw. zurückgewonnen wird.

According to the present process, the aforementioned natural rubber types are mixed with one of the known rubber solvents, e.g. B. gasoline, benzene, phenol, aniline or their homologues, etc. or mixtures thereof treated for a long time at elevated temperature, the temperature to be used and the time of treatment depending on the nature of the solvent and the degree of adhesive strength or plasticity, that one wants to achieve, judges.
The solvents, which are used here as converting agents for the colloid-chemical structure of the starting material, can be completely or partially removed from the mixture after the conversion is complete. The product obtained in this way is readily soluble, plastic, adhesive, absorbent for rubber fillers and can be further processed and processed like natural rubber.
At s p i e l: Balata is scrapped on the usual rolling mills. The scrap is mixed with 10 to 20% phenol on mixing or kneading machines and then heated to about 1350 ° C. in an autoclave with a stirrer for 3 to 6 hours. The material obtained in this way is also kneaded at elevated temperature until it is homogeneous, with the evaporating phenol being removed or recovered at the same time. The product, which is more or less completely freed from phenol, can be processed into soft rubber, hard rubber or solutions, as is the case with natural rubber.
In the case of the production of rubber solutions, one can also proceed in such a way that the conversion agent used is not first removed from the conversion product, but instead is left in it and used as a solvent in the production of solutions.
PATENT CLAIMS: I. Conversion of natural rubber types, which inherently lack adhesive strength and plasticity, into adhesive solutions resulting in plastic modifications, characterized in that these starting materials are treated with rubber solvents at elevated temperature until the desired colloid chemical structural changes have occurred , whereupon the conversion agent is more or less completely removed or recovered.
