Description

EMI1.2
sind (z. B. 0.001 mm).

Process for the production of laminated glass.
For the industry, which has the task of producing laminated glass with a core from celluloid or another similar material glued to the glass plates by gelatine, it is of considerable interest to use a gelatine as a binding agent, which is either naturally hard or has undergone artificial hardening or treatment with tannic acid, d. H. has been made insoluble, in short a gelatin, which is resistant to the destructive effects of atmospheric moisture and can also withstand strong increases in temperature without tending to melt and dissolve.
The present invention shows an improvement which enables such gelatin to be used by achieving that the gelatin, which always adheres to glass when it is properly spread on it, also to celluloid, cellulose acetate or other cellulose ester or another body suitable for the laminated glass core closely adhered.
To make gelatin adhere to glass, a layer of aqueous gelatin solution is spread on the glass surface, which has been carefully cleaned by known means, and allowed to dry. The gelatin layer formed in this way can be hardened, treated with tannic acid or made insoluble, for which known agents are used, e.g. B. Doppelchromsauies Kali, Formol, etc. The main difficulty resolved by the invention is to make the hard and insoluble gelatin layer adhere to celluloid or another cellulose ester as a component of the laminated glass core.
This is made possible according to the invention in that a cellulose solution is applied to the gelatin previously spread out on the glass surface, which solution contains a solvent common to the gelatin and the celluloid. If the solution evaporates, a thin cellulose membrane is formed on the gelatin layer, which adheres very firmly to the gelatin and forms an intermediate layer that ensures that the celluloid core adheres reliably to the gelatin.
In order to put the invention into practice, a gelatin layer is spread over one surface of each of the plates intended for the production of Velbundglas and each of these layers is covered with it
EMI1.1
with the addition of one of these substances and a common solvent to gelatin (acetic acid, acetamide, formamide).
In any case, you get a laminated glass consisting of two glass panes and a celluloid core, which adheres to the glass by means of two layers of gelatin. A special feature of this product is that the individual parts adhere to each other completely, even if the
EMI1.2
are (e.g. 0.001 mm).
