Arrangement of anodes connected in parallel with cross rectifiers.

With large rectifiers, which have very high currents, one is forced to connect several anodes in parallel. Up to now, the anodes connected in parallel have always been arranged spatially adjacent, because they promised an even distribution of the current to the anodes. The tests have shown, however, that this arrangement is not practical, but has major disadvantages as a result. The adjacent position of the anodes connected in parallel is beneficial for an even distribution to the individual anodes, but it significantly reduces the load capacity of the rectifier, since the steam flow moving in a common direction must carry the total flow and the total heat and steam density at every moment of time the direction in question.

However, as has already been found with a single anode, the division of the vapor flow in the rectifier is of great importance for its load capacity. According to the invention, contrary to previous views, the anodes connected in parallel are distributed symmetrically over the circumference of the rectifier. As a result, there are as many arcs on all sides as the anodes are connected in parallel. With two anodes connected in parallel, they are 180 apart, with three parallel connected 1200, etc.

The drawing shows the arrangement for a six-phase rectifier with twelve anodes, two of which are connected in parallel. The transformer belonging to the rectifier G carries the three-phase primary winding P and the six-phase secondary winding S. The phases of the
