Abstract
In a process for anodizing metallic workpieces (4), in particular aluminium and aluminium-alloy workpieces, the workpieces are exposed to an electrolyte flow in an electrolyte bath (2) freely or by means of a workpiece chamber. The electrolyte flow is removed from the electrolyte bath by a pipe circuit or the like and after being passed through a cooler (8), is fed back into the electrolyte bath. To create continuously uniform temperatures at the workpieces and in the electrolyte bath by providing reliable heat removal, the cooled electrolyte flow is fed back against the direction of movement of the Joule heat produced in the electrolytic process into and through the electrolyte bath. <IMAGE>
