Abstract
Process for heat treating sheet metal comprises heating in a furnace, removing from the furnace into a stand, and quenching by spraying the upper and lower sides with water. The upper and lower sides of the sheet metal are divided into a number of zones. The zones are quenched with different speeds, intensities and durations. An Independent claim is also included for a stand used in the process. Preferred Features: The quenching speed is adjusted by the amount of water per surface and time unit and by the water temperature.
