Abstract

An ironing machine (100) comprises heated cylinder (3) having inlet for receipt of laundry workpieces (6) and feed unit (8) arranged in use to feed workpiece into the inlet. The machine further comprises sensor (40) connected to controller (50) for measurement of a value related to temperature of heated cylinder. The sensor is arranged in use to supply to controller a signal indicative of temperature distribution in heated cylinder. An ironing machine comprises an heated cylinder having an inlet for receipt of laundry workpieces and a feed unit arranged in use to feed the workpiece into the inlet. The machine further comprises a sensor connected to a controller for measurement of a value related to a temperature of the heated cylinder. The sensor is arranged in use to supply to the controller a signal indicative of a temperature distribution in the heated cylinder. The controller is arranged in use to control at least one operating parameter of the ironing machine in response to the signal. The parameter includes the location of introduction of the workpieces with respect to the width of the heated cylinder. An independent claim is also included for controlling an ironing machine, comprising sensing a value related to the temperature of the heated cylinder; and controlling at least one operating parameter of the machine in proportion to the sensed value of the temperature, where the parameter includes location of introduction of workpieces with respect to the width of the cylinder.
