Abstract

In such bodies, in particular for musical instruments, loud speakers and the like, there is the problem of damping undesirably strongly prominent higher frequencies. As a solution, the sound-radiating surface (SF) is provided at least partially with a fine-grained granular material (GR). At the same time, a force-transmission joint is produced between the granular material and the surface by a binder (BM) which is preferably solid, but may possibly also be viscous. The latter produces relatively strong frictional damping in certain frequency ranges, whereas the former operates more as a result of increased mass coating.
