Abstract

The material web has a support material with fibres attached thereto, all the fibres being resistant to an essentially neutral aqueous medium. The permeability of the web deteriorates in operation because of the formation of deposits and/or mechanical stresses. In order to be able to regenerate the original permeability by simple means, at least some of the fibres (1,4,8) consist at least partially of a material (3, 6, 10, 11, 12) which is soluble in a basic or acid, nucleophilic or electrophilic, reductive or oxidative medium to which the carrier material is resistant. <IMAGE>
