Abstract

The disclosure is of a novel dryer felt or dryer felt fabric (10) for use in a paper making machine. The fabric is characterized in part by a paper (24) contacting surface free of the load-bearing monofilament machine direction yarns (22). The fabric has an enhanced operating life as a dryer felt since the machine direction yarns are protected from direct contact with the paper sheet.
