Classeur relieur.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Binder binder.
There are known binders binders of letters, catalogs, or works of all kinds, in which is used for binding a curved spring blade which works in compression.
In these binders, the intensity of the clamping of said blade on the doouments is obtained by the arrangement of its ends in the various stages of suitably stamped pieces or in the slots of crenellated pieces integral with the back of the binder, one at least of these parts being pivotally mounted. This procedure does not ensure a strong tightening and the bound leaflets come off easily and involuntarily.
It is indeed essential to have the end of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the blade in the oscillating part of tilting rubs last which when rising decreases the tension of the reqaort due to the increase of the deflection.
The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback by allowing progressive and energetic tightening preventing any loss of torque.
For this purpose, the elastic blade is, on one side pierced with a hole through which a threaded pin secured to the back of the file cabinet and on which it can slide vertically and pivot laterally; on the other side, it is free and can be tightened at the desired time, on a threaded axis pivoting in the axis of the back by means of a buttonhole made at its end. The blade in the working position is held on these threaded pins by nuts which screw into them.
This extremely simple system ensures, thanks to the pressure exerted by the leaf spring, absolute fixity of the documents on which it is pressed; the spring blade, thanks to the tightening which is subjected to it by means of the spirals sliding on the threaded rods being always obliged to approach the straight line.
An embodiment of the invention has been described, by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the device.
Fig. 2nd plan view, and
Fig. 3 a sectional view of the apparatus.
The binder is essentially made up of a usual frame made of cardboard or any material in which there is a metal part b on which a threaded pin d is mounted at o.
On this axis d is fitted a curved spring leaf e which can slide there by means of a hole f drilled at one of its ends; a nut g can be screwed on this threaded axle d.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The leaf spring is provided with a buttonhole h at its other end which is intended to come into contact with a threaded axis i movable around the hinge k fixed to the metal plate.
On this axis which can be folded into 1, that is to say on the side of the binder, can also move a nut! in such a way that the threaded pin i can be introduced into the buttonhole h and thus the leaf spring e can be held and then the latter properly fixed in the working position by means of the threaded pins on which the nuts and m are tightened.
To place the documents to be bound, we start by bringing the leaf spring to the right (see arrow x) then by placing the documents at the back of the binder so that the part to be clamped is caught under the spring; this being done, we fold back on the left of the device (see arrow Z) the leaf spring, we introduce in the buttonhole. the threaded axis, then the leaf spring is tightened by sliding the nut m along the threaded axis i; this done, we tighten. in turn the nut and the threaded axis -fixed d and in this way, the curved leaf spring is forced to firmly tighten the documents which cannot be detached from the binder.
To loosen the documents, we unscrew the nut !, and we fold down the threaded rod! on the side.
Of course, the means for fixing the spring blade can be changed, and the latter can be of any elastic material. The threaded support pins can also be different as well as their mounting.
