<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Spring for bedding and furnishing articles comprising a fixing member
We know the springs used in the manufacture of bedding and furnishing objects, such as box springs, sofas, armchairs, etc., said springs are interconnected and likewise fixed by their upper seat to parts. objects., in the manufacture of which they enter, by means of a string) which is wound and tied around the steel wires constituting the spring.
Fixing the springs as described above requires a lot of time; the same applies in the event of repair, when it comes to replacing one or more damaged springs:
The object of the present invention is to simplify the work consisting in bringing together the springs, of a bed base for example, and to facilitate their replacement by the use of a spring comprising a fixing member such as as described below.
Figs. 1 to 6 of the attached plates show, in tiere

for example, several embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 of board 1 is a plan view of the spring to which straps are stapled, pin 2 of board 1 is an elevational view of the spring and a section through the stapled straps, FIG. 1 of plate 2 shows fasteners the end of which is curved inside and outside the spring, FIG. 2 of plate 2 shows fasteners, one of the curved ends of which is threaded and comprises a nut, while the other end is split so as to form two branches, FIGS. 3 of the branch 3 show a cross section and a plan view of a spring comprising a fixing member constituted by a circular plate, FIG. 4 of plate 3 shows a plan view of a fixing member according to an alternative embodiment.
According to fig. 1 and 2 of the board 1, the steel wire spring 1 comprises seats 2,2 ',, the lower seat 2 being intended to be applied on one of the cross members of the bed base; the part of the wire constituting the seat 2 'entwines in 3 the previous turn, and is extended by a rod 4 whose curved end constitutes

a G ring, J.a1onuut; subsiator a hole G. The annonu 0 have 81. tn6 in the center of the seat 2 'and is also located on the same plane as the latter.
The assembly 4, 5 constitutes the member for fixing the spring 1, which makes it possible to fix on the seat 2 'the straps 7, 7' superposed in the shape of a cross by means of the clip 8 comprising two and / rods 9.9 'passing through the straps 7.7' the hole 6, with their ends folded at right angles under the ring 5; in this way the assembly 5, 7, 7 'is fixed in the space comprised between the head of the clip 8 and the curved ends of the rods-9'.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Thanks to the spring fixing member, the latter can be fastened very quickly to straps arranged as usual, or also, if necessary, linked together by means of clips 8 for example, or any other device of this kind.
Likewise, in the case of repairs requiring the
EMI3.1
ximnp.s.eerent from ut to plunioura N: HH301'U6, it suffices to remove the clips fixing the straps on the springs, the latter can then be removed without further.
According to figs 1 and 2 of plate 2, the steel wire springs 1 have seats 2, 2 ', 2 ", 2"' including the fixing members 3, 3 ', 3 ", 3" 'are located inside the seats and on the same plane as the latter; the end of the steel wire constituting the fixing member 3 (fig. 1) is bent at right angles inside the spring, so as to form a hook 3 allowing the straps 6 to be attached to the seat 2 .5 'arranged one on top of the other in the shape of a cross; the straps 5, 5 'are thus placed under the fixing member 3, the hook 4 of which passes through said straps and immobilizes them on the seat 2 of the spring 1.
The end of the steel wire constituting the fixing member 3 '(fig. 1) is bent at right angles to the outside of the spring so as to form a hook 4' entering a hole made in the crosspiece 6 d 'a box spring for example, thus immobilizing the spring on its support.
The end of the steel wire constituting the fixing member 3 "(fig, 2) is bent inside the spring so as to form a threaded hook 4", which comprises a nut 7; the hook 4 "passes through the straps 5, 5 'placed on the seat 2', while the nut 7 fixes the said straps on the spring 1.
The end of the steel wire constituting the fixing member "'is bent on the outside of the spring so as to form an orochet 4"', the rod of which is split longitudinally so as to form
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
two branches 8, 8 '; by placing the rod of the hook 4 "'in a hole made in a wooden support 9, it suffices to bend the branches 8, 8' as indicated in the drawing in order to be able to fix the spring 1 on the support 9 ; the hook 4 "'with its branches 8, 8' thus constitutes a clip which can also be used to fix the straps to the spring by passing the said clip through the straps and then bending the branches 8, 8 ' .
Provision is made for the rod of the hook 4 'of the fixing member 3 to be long so as to slightly exceed the crosspiece 6, to thus allow the end of said rod to be riveted; in this case, the rod of the hook 4 'would in a way constitute a rivet making it possible to fix the spring on its base, or again this rivet would make it possible to fix straps on the spring.
Figs. 3 and 4 show variant embodiments in which the fasteners are no longer formed with the spring wire, but are fixed to them; thus in fig. 3 the fixing member 10 is constituted by a circular metal plate, the edge of which is folded around the winding 11 of the wire constituting one of the bases of the spring, so as to thus fix said plate on the spring; qllorgane 10 has a hole 12 intended to receive a bolt 13 for example, or any other assembly member such as clips for fixing the straps 14, 14 'on the spring.
In FIG. 4, the fixing member 15 has three branches, the ends of which are folded over the wire constituting the upper seat of the spring; this fixing member has a hole 16 making it possible to place an assembly member therein to fix it to the straps or to fix the spring on its support.
